During a rally yesterday, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden spoke to a crowd in Derry, N.H., a town that many miners call home. He acknowledged the economic setbacks and job insecurity that coal miners face these days, and gave them some advice: learn to code.
According to Dave Weigel of the Washington Post, Biden said, “Anybody who can go down 3,000 feet in a mine can sure as hell learn to program as well... Anybody who can throw coal into a furnace can learn how to program, for God’s sake!”

Perhaps you're right. Biden is a gaffe machine, proving his idiocy daily. Decades ago, for one job I took a 3-hour exam on logic skills to get a programming job. Only 6 including me were selected from 400 or so applicants taking the test, and it included an interview panel. Logic skills are necessary in order to code for computing. I'm not saying a coal miner couldn't code, but the majority of coal miners most likely would not be able to sufficiently learn how to code in order to earn a decent living as compared to what they earn mining coal.
