AT&T forcing thousands of American employees to train foreign replacements through H1B program
Breitbart ^ | 12/31/19 | John Binder

Posted on 12/31/2019 12:16:29 PM PST by david1292

AT&T is reportedly laying off thousands of American workers after forcing them to train their foreign replacements who have been imported through the H-1B visa program.

Every year, more than 100,000 foreign workers are brought to the U.S. on the H-1B visa and are allowed to stay for up to six years. There are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements, as highlighted by Breitbart News.

More than 85,000 Americans annually potentially lose their jobs to foreign labor through the H-1B visa program. Despite claims by the big business lobby, American workers who have been replaced by H-1B foreign workers say there is no shortage of talented and qualified citizens for high-paying, white-collar jobs.

In a new report by Axios, current and former AT&T employees said they are being laid off after being forced to train their H-1B foreign replacements: AT&T is poised to send thousands into the new year hunting for new jobs after assigning them to train their own foreign replacements, according to conversations with current and former workers and documents obtained by Axios. [Emphasis added]

Many have worked for the company for over a decade. They aren’t being offered severance or early retirement, and may not easily find a comparable job elsewhere with similar pay. [Emphasis added]

AT&T spokesperson Jim Kimberly told Breitbart News that employees are being helped to find other jobs inside the company.

“We are continuously working to be more efficient in our operations,” Kimberly said. “To the extent possible, we’re managing this staff adjustment through attrition and are helping employees find other positions within the company.”

I can not stand being connected to India . I hang up and try again at a different time. There is just something in my head that makes it hard for me to understand what the heck they are saying.

“this is one major weakness. he’s getting bad advice from somewhere.”

to all the negative nanzis out there;

it obviously hasn’t occurred to many people that trump may have his hands full single handedly constantly fighting incoming fire from all directions while steering the country away from the cliff we were headed towards...

trump is a blessing from God, not God himself...

I guess we see it different. I’m happy getting 90% of what I want from a president, considering that’s about 30% more than I’ve ever gotten in my life (Reagan included).

I guess I can sit home and whine about the other 10%, or support handing the country to the Democrats because I’m not getting 100%, but that’s just not me.
********************************************
Absolutely no one here would support a DemocRAT over Trump on this issue. But that doesn’t mean we should support or not actively oppose this VERY BAD POLICY! Please don’t cast other FReepers’ arguments as something they are not.

“The customer would first fight with an automated service program...”

Oh, yeah. It goes without saying that I had already run that gauntlet, ending with me screaming into the phone to the robo voice, “AGENT! AGENT! AGENT!

That would be me and a bunch of others.
Our last layoff was 15%.
They only laid off Americans and kept all the Indians even though the Americans were more competent.

"human interchangeability"

This has been a fundamental tenant of business school teaching since the beginning of the industrial age.

“Trump ignoring H1B is going to hurt him. “

It’s his son-in-law and daughter. In my opinion of course.

Displaced workers have been required to train their replacements for the past 25 years, this is nothing new.

AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson is mortally afflicted with SJW Syndrome. He was 1 of the key volunteer officers on the BSA’s Natioal Executive Committee back in 2013 which succumbed to LGBTQ. He served as the volunteer BSA National President during 2016-2018 and opened the membership to transexuals.

This is a consequence of the make believe world of human interchangeability, deliberately promoted by academics & pseudo intellectuals pursuing new “world orders.”

I knew some time ago, when “Personnel” Departments became “ Human Resources” that employees were going to be on the dehumanizing slide. Lost my great paying job at 52. Too early to retire and too old to start a career. Luckily I had the ability to get high security clearances so I have done contract work and it has worked out well.

American workers should remember that their oath as citizens is to the Constitution, NOT American Multinational Corporations.

If there is a choice of employment between an American H1B dependant corporation, and their foreign controlled competitor, don't hesitate for a second to work for the non-US company.

I worked for AT&T through a contractor for a while, Tier II U-Verse Customer Care....
There was also no up-to-date canonical directory of internal phone numbers to use when we needed to contact the other departments so they could assist with the landline problems.

I switched from ATT to Spectrum for my phone service and price. However I was surprised when the tech came to update my router. He had to call the same service number customers use to call in an issue. He had to wait, just like the rest of us smucks, to have his issue resolved. Mind you he was getting paid to wait forty five minutes to resolve the issue. No internal phone numbers for techs to bypass the bureaucracy. I felt like I was jumping from the frying pan into the fire(albeit a cheaper flame)
