AT&T forcing thousands of American employees to train foreign replacements through H1B program
Breitbart ^ | 12/31/19 | John Binder

Posted on 12/31/2019 12:16:29 PM PST by david1292

AT&T is reportedly laying off thousands of American workers after forcing them to train their foreign replacements who have been imported through the H-1B visa program.

Every year, more than 100,000 foreign workers are brought to the U.S. on the H-1B visa and are allowed to stay for up to six years. There are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements, as highlighted by Breitbart News.

More than 85,000 Americans annually potentially lose their jobs to foreign labor through the H-1B visa program. Despite claims by the big business lobby, American workers who have been replaced by H-1B foreign workers say there is no shortage of talented and qualified citizens for high-paying, white-collar jobs.

In a new report by Axios, current and former AT&T employees said they are being laid off after being forced to train their H-1B foreign replacements: AT&T is poised to send thousands into the new year hunting for new jobs after assigning them to train their own foreign replacements, according to conversations with current and former workers and documents obtained by Axios. [Emphasis added]

Many have worked for the company for over a decade. They aren’t being offered severance or early retirement, and may not easily find a comparable job elsewhere with similar pay. [Emphasis added]

AT&T spokesperson Jim Kimberly told Breitbart News that employees are being helped to find other jobs inside the company.

“We are continuously working to be more efficient in our operations,” Kimberly said. “To the extent possible, we’re managing this staff adjustment through attrition and are helping employees find other positions within the company.”

You could lop 90% of them into the same party, so what difference does it make?

Disney pulled this same shit under Obama. We voted Trump and the GOP majority and they did NOTHING...absolutely nothing about it. In fact, Paul Ryan and his ilk in the House wanted to expand the program. And we have Mike Lee cheerleading for more H1B in the Senate.

Then you got Trump flip-flopping all over the place on the issue.

I don’t think elections are going to solve this.

1. Forcing an existing employee to train their H1-B replacement is prima facie proof their employer is violating the law.

2. India is a socialist country per its constitution (via an amendment), so the vast majority are future Democrats.

H1B is a massive tidal wave of ppl from India.

Personal potential lactation?
Pretentious perverts limping?
Private parts lacking?
Previously pocketed lingerie?

What is "ppl"?

Are you running out of letters or something?

Are you a teenager?

Politicians allowed this crap. Politicians must stop it. Obviously they don’t want to. What about that “Make America Great Again!” thing?

It’s a pendulum and I have been doing this for 38 years. They move IT “offshore” to save money and then a low-level staffer calls a VP a “stupid motherfrumper” and management complains they can get anything from IT. People can’t understand the people on support and the systems are inflexible.

Then upper management hires their own American IT staff and bashes the IT department for the problems mentioned above. After the VP got cussed out, the CIO got canned and they brought everything back.

I’m not crazy about it either, but it is one issue and the country can survive it. Elect Democrats and after they open the Southern Border, all bets are off.

I’m not sure the alternatives - voting for Democrats in November elections, or sitting out November elections, is all that much better.

Look at it this way:

Democrats are a revolutionary party and are constantly advancing their radical goals. Republicans are a party of "status quo" masquerading as conservatives. What are they conserving? The gains made by Democrats.

Democrats create status quo, Republicans conserve it.

Witness the ACA / Obamacare debacle. It passed without a single Republican vote, and it failed repeal by a single Republican vote. Pathetic.

They constantly stab us in the back, and continue to do it because of straight-ticket voting. See? They're laughing at us:

What a POS comment Bob. So we can just throw young Americans under the bus. We'll survive. F that.

I just read a thread about Americans not having kids, THESE THINGS ARE RELATED BOB.

I worked for AT&T through a contractor for a while, Tier II U-Verse Customer Care. The customer would first fight with an automated service program, then with a foreign language speaking tech in Tier I. Once they were good and frustrated, they got me.

I received two weeks training, during which they basically structured our time, teaching us nothing.

U-Verse had no tech support manual, no online resources for us to use, nothing. It was common for us to Google the problems which came up. On more than one occasion, I put a customer on hold and wandered the building in the hope of finding one single person among the techs and management who knew a solution to the customer’s problem.

There was also no up-to-date canonical directory of internal phone numbers to use when we needed to contact the other departments so they could assist with the landline problems.

It was a high stress job. Before I came on board, one Tier II Customer Care tech had actually jumped off the top of the parking garage.

After a year, Mrs. Chandler encouraged me to quit because she didn’t like the person I was turning into.

I guess we see it different. I’m happy getting 90% of what I want from a president, considering that’s about 30% more than I’ve ever gotten in my life (Reagan included).

I guess I can sit home and whine about the other 10%, or support handing the country to the Democrats because I’m not getting 100%, but that’s just not me.

“I just had an excruciating go-round with an AT&T Customer “Service” Rep. Indian, no doubt. I told her the same details several times, and she did not understand.

Me: I received the label to return the equipment, but not the form.
Her: I will email a label to you.
Me: I JUST SAID I HAVE A LABEL!
Her: I can send a text for a link for your label.
Me: I already told you that I HAVE A LABEL!

And that was just ONE of the portions of the conversation. It was all like that.”

Yep, and that’s pretty much the norm. Unfortunately in these corporations you get these snobby MBA types who advise the CEO to hire these people, convincing them that they’re some sort of geniuses from an advanced/superior culture who will work for cheap. And it’s not about making the company more efficient, it’s about the CEO not being happy with one Yacht, but instead needs to have three. And his government buddies are happy to provide him with the cheap H1B and offshore labor to do it.

They sure as hell haven’t seemed very happy since Trump was elected.

Still can’t figure out how your plan to ENABLE DEMOCRATS helps the country, but I’ll keep working on it.
