US embassy staff and the US ambassador in Baghdad have been evacuated, according to two unnamed Iraqi Foreign Ministry officials cited by Reuters, as hundreds of Iraqi protesters swam the embassy compound.
Iraqi supporters of a powerful Iranian-backed militia were attacking the outside of the fortified zone that surrounds the US embassy compound in Baghdad, protesting against American air strikes that killed 25 fighters from the group, news agencies reported.
Except Trump is gaining nothing here and hiding nothing.

U.S. ambassador has not evacuated, has been on previously planned holiday vacation outside Iraq: officials
significant upgrade in number of marines. Must have been staged in country or close by.
The Iraqi’s failed to provide external security as is the responsibility of the host country. The marines have inside the compound.
Most embassies the site would have 11 marines not all on duty. When 9-11 hit Pakistan went from 11-22 marines. So Iraq could have had more than 11.
There are vac planes at each embassy. Written by the marines and the CIA and approved by the commanding officers and the secretary off state. The highest ranking marine at an embassy is usually a gunny.
Opening up full bore on demonstrators climbing the fence is rare, if the marines can ensure safety if US personnel and get them out. Sending in 100 should get the place back under control.
......”This was Iranian backed, not Iraqi”......
Exactly right....the flags they were waving alone evidenced this. Just like in Somolia and other middle east area conflicts Irans Leadership fingerprints are ever present.
Send these Iran supporting bastards to hell as far as Im concerned. If theres any hope for the Middle East, its in Iraq. If theres no hope for the Middle East, theres no future for the West. Eventually, the terrorists WILL get nukes. The average Middle Easterner needs to be shown that there is hope for a better future than Sharia Law and constant war. We need allies among the population so we can thwart terrorism that is certainly coming our way. Were already there and we will be drawn back if we completely let go. It would be a much more advantageous country to launch attacks against Europe and the USA, imho.
“But leftists must find any pretext for exaggerating a crisis.”
I haven’t noted excessive reporting on this recent episode of Iraq/Iran issues. In fact I have been getting most of my information from FR rather than the conventional news sites.
Saddam was no angel, but the Iraqi people were better off under his rule. Just look at the violent mess that is todays Iraq.
And who gave us the right to invade a sovereign country, anyway? We shouldnt have even been involved in the first Gulf War. Both wars were fought for the Globalist Neo-Cons. The Iraqi people never invited us to plunder and destroy their country.
The never ending Neo-Con wars are one reason why the entire world hates the US.

100 U.S. Marines & 2 Apache helicopters have arrived at the U.S. embassy in Baghdad after attack
I would be thrilled to pull our boys out and nuke the place. Wish we would.
It’s the industrial military complex with kick back corruption that Ike was warning us about.
Absolutely.
Very big mistake.
Never again.

How do you know they hate it? How many of them hate it?
Just a thought, wonder if GS is bankrolling this to upset the apple cart?
I don't give a sh*t about what they have or what they suffer.
They're not my people.
My prediction for the war after 9-11, posted right here on 9-13-2001.
Administrations cannot promise what is not theirs to give.
It matters when the other Freeper says they should be grateful for what we did to their country.
