US embassy staff and the US ambassador in Baghdad have been evacuated, according to two unnamed Iraqi Foreign Ministry officials cited by Reuters, as hundreds of Iraqi protesters swam the embassy compound.
Iraqi supporters of a powerful Iranian-backed militia were attacking the outside of the fortified zone that surrounds the US embassy compound in Baghdad, protesting against American air strikes that killed 25 fighters from the group, news agencies reported.
Youre absolutely right. One good thing about Saddam, the Shah of Iran, and some of the other military dictators in the Mideast is that they recognized women had rights in society, that religious minorities deserved protection, and that Islamist extremism was a threat to them ...
“Was he being set up by Pompeo”
He is being set up by those Pompeo actually works for.
THAT DAY when Muqtada Al-Sadr was hiding inside a mosque in Fallujah surrounded by fighters, and Bush would would NOT BOMB THE MOSQUE about it. I said on this forum, this was a colossal mistake that would haunt us foe a long time. Sadly, I was right. Bush had fired the very capable Lt. General Jay Garner and replaced him with pathetic wuss Paul Bremer. Arabs understand ONLY brutal force. That was the day we lost the soul of Iraq.
Funny. That’s what I was conveying but you judge in favor of the other.
Stupid conversation.
I’ve been on so many threads where I post the fact “X happened”, then I’ll post a few more times on the same thread and some keyboard warrior will plop in and respond to my last post saying that I don’t know what I’m talking about because they learned the fact that “X happened.”
And I’m like gee, did this person bother to read upthread?
Then friends of mine at ballgames, cafes, restaurants see me posting with such short shrift, they ask why grovel with idiots? I tell them there’s a larger group reading and remaining silent and hopefully they will see some quality discussion that energizes the thought process.
So H teaches X, X teaches Y, Y teaches Z and Z who hasn’t read anything from H runs into H and says “X happened”.
Some Freepers who are like Z informing H of something H has already posted previously, posting as if H doesn’t know, they will march off in a huff when H points out their foible. Some have even gone to JimRob saying “I sure showed that H what’s what, yep sure did.” Then JimRob asks H what’s this about? And H shows what happened leaving JimRob apparently scratching his head.
Squirrelly freepers.
But then some Z-like freepers having told H what H already knows and previously posted about, will apologize saying “I’m sorry I didn’t know it came from your post originally” to which H replies “no problem, happens all the time.” Such apologetic Freepers exhibit class and understanding, they become friends.
Happy New Year.
[Average Freeper in 2003: The U.S. must invade Iraq and topple Saddam Hussein because he slaughtered Iraqi Shiites!
Average Freeper in 2019: Slaughter the Iraqi Shiites!
I give up. ]

More dependent on Iran? For what? How much aid is Iran providing Iraq? If anything, the Iraqi government is being held hostage by Iranian backed militia.
It was a legitimate decision. Kataib Hezbollah (IRI) has been building up munitions in both.
Not a question of legitimacy. The Iranians are trying to provoke us into taking military action. They shot down our drones as well. We need to be smart and not take knee jerk reactions that are counterproductive. What will the invasion of our Embassy compound presage?
We could have addressed the IRI through more covert means rather than using high profile air attacks inside Iraq. Trump is battling the bureaucracy over removing troops from Afghanistan and Syria. They are undermining his decisions.
war happened because moron gwb wanted running buddies and subjects to draw in his post-presidency.
nothing to do with us or saddam
> “You did when you said ...”
Disagree. Dying and death are not synonymous. One is a process, the other an outcome. Equating the two is stupid.
Leftists causes are dying, their tactics are increasingly ineffective. This is because of the historical Great Awakening. The only thing leftists think they can do to stop the Great Awakening is to use whatever forms of isolation and censorship they can throw at it. They are having a really hard time stopping it. In fact, it’s impossible.
Exactly so!
Not to mention the suspicion that the units we attacked are just as hostile to ISIS as we are...supposedly,
Wouldnt be the first time we killed units that were opposing daesh/ ISIS but who happened to be Syrian or Iranian commanded and labeled as our enemies
Is Trump getting truthful intel from anyone?
Putin maybe.
Yeah, right. Thinking that death is imminent when something is dying is just stupid, isn't it?
Try again, nimrod.
The Brits.
George Sore-Ass. And/or ValJar / Omoeba / John F'ing Kerry whose daughter married a high Iranian official.
Yep, somehow I don't feel spending billions and billions to buy such short memories was worth it. Imagine if we gave each state billions to fix our roads instead.
“More dependent on Iran? For what? How much aid is Iran providing Iraq? If anything, the Iraqi government is being held hostage by Iranian backed militia. “
They’re not being held hostage. They are pretty much one in the same.
This will make your head spin. PMF was founded by Nouri al Malaki, former PM of Iraq. It has since come under PM Prime Minister Al-Abadi and now PM Adil Abdul-Mahdi. They all have strong ties to Iran. Basically, PMF/PMC are Qods force/IRGC.

Bush needed to get rid of the regime in Iran, after Saddam.
Tribalism trumps nation building.
You asked “who is behind it”.
I answered.
