James Comey describes Trump as 'shrunken, withered figure' in new op-ed

Former FBI Director James Comey said President Trump has become a “shrunken, withered figure,” and urged Americans to challenge his actions.

Comey outlined the urgency in what he defined as the “fourth, and final, stage,” of dealing with Trump’s rhetorical attacks on his critics as part of an op-ed published Monday in The Washington Post.

“What’s it like to be personally and publicly attacked by the president of the United States? Like many others in and out of government, I have some experience,” wrote Comey, who was fired by Trump and has feuded with the president for more than two years.

“It’s hard on good people, especially those who don’t have savings to fall back on,” he continued. “But the truth is that, in many ways, it is not as hard as you might think, especially as it continues endlessly, leaking power, shrinking its source.”

“It no longer feels as though the most powerful human on the planet is after you. It feels as though a strange and slightly sad old guy is yelling at you to get off his lawn, echoed by younger but no less sad people in red hats shouting, ‘Yeah, get off his lawn!’ ” Comey wrote.

“I don’t mean to suggest Trump is not dangerous. The horrific betrayal of allies in northern Syria demonstrates that an impetuous and amoral leader can do great harm, even in shrunken form,” Comey adds.

“For the fourth, and final, stage, we need to fight through our fatigue and contempt for this shrunken, withered figure. Spurred by the danger he poses to our nation and its values, we have to overcome the shock and numbness of earlier stages. We must not look away,” Comey wrote.

Fourth and final stage?

Yes, I thought that had an ominous sound.

The thought that this A-Hole lead the FBI is the most frightening nightmare I can imagine. I do not trust them.

This evil man cravenly wanted to remain Director to work against Trump. He is a lying sack if sh!t that deserves this nations contempt.

If a disgraced, fired, ex-fbi director gets hit by an Obama drone in the redwood forest and no one hears him, does he make a sound?

He’s reduced to empty rhetoric.

No factual or logical arguments.

If he is not careful, Jim is going to fool around and blow any chance for a pardon from The Donald.

"President Trump has become a “shrunken, withered figure,”"

It's not possible to become shrunken and withered on a mcdonald's big mac and fries diet.

You got Crazy Uncle Joe saying, “We’re all dead” and Crazy Curtains Comey talking about the “fourth and final stage.” Crazy Curtains Comey needs some serious psychiatric care. Or jail will do.

President Trump understands buildings. The foundation is the most important, and most vulnerable, part of the structure.

If one wishes to topple the walls of Jericho, one must prepare the foundation for the top to come down.

There is the fact that President Trump needed to weed out a lot of deadwood in his admin. He, not being a politician, did not have a bunch of political courtesans ready to do his bidding. Without the right participants, he would have no chance to pull the swamp’s plug.

There is a fifth option. He is simply doing what must be done in a manner no one else has yet deciphered.

I think Comey is campaigning to be the next Pope.
Devout Catholics please accept my apologies, but Comey is one sanctimonious and self-righteous sack of feces.... IMO
Hard to see how someone could be so self-sure of his/her own lack of vulnerability unless he/she is actually INSANE.
An aware and thinking person would want to keep head down, etc.

Now we're back to talking 4D chess, etc. Let's consider some historical events to cast a little perspective in order to determine whether Trump truly measures up to the genius/patience/planning many ascribe:

1. 1770 -> 1776 = 6 years :: Boston massacre 1770, Boston tea party 1773, Lexington. Here we have 1, 3, and 6 years leading up to DOI

2. 1789 -> 1793 = 4 years :: French revolution; Louis XVI beheaded

3. 1646 -> 1649 = 3 years :: English civil war; Charles I beheaded

4. 49 BC -> 44 BC = 5 years :: Caesar crosses Rubicon; is assassinated in Senate

Using these examples of major turning points in Western Civ, we can see that Trump is right about in the middle. So, we're nearing the point of whether sh!t is going to get real (as Kabar points out), or Trump is going to let the whole thing pass. (Or, perhaps after seeding the courts, leaves the fight for another, younger leader + generation to regain their lost rights.)
