Maybe it's the opposite: Comey expects to be indicted and is trying to get his narrative established before his trial. It's also likely that he hopees to goad the prosecution or the president himself into a reply that would provide grounds for dismissal or appeal later on.
Appeals to the press--especially ones so bitter-- imply fear, not confidence.

At a minimum you are going to jail you scum-bag.
Better yet if you are executed for treason.
Considering the WaPost is owned by uber liberal Jeff Bezos I think Jimbo made his axe to grind and Bezos handed him the outlet...Trump Derangement Syndrome has seriously affected old Comey. But we are talking about serious evil doers in the deep state. One thing that gives me comfort is knowing that weekly Bible studies and prayer meetings are taking place within the cabinet!
