There I was, watching my old VHS copy of The Boys from Brazil, idly reading the lab reports on the swabs I took from my gentile neighbors kids when he wasnt looking, and revising the bassoon part of a concerto Ive been working on, when I saw something alarming trending on Twitter. Not eugenics, but Bret Stephens.
Whats he done now? I asked in six languages, two of them not from the Indo-European language family.
In todays New York Times, Bret Stephens discusses Norman Lebrechts excellent new history of the Jews in modern times. Lebrecht describes the unparalleled contributions of notorious underachievers like Marx, Freud, Heine, Disraeli, Herzl, Trotsky, Kafka, Wittgenstein and Einstein but, inexplicably, he fails to mention the contributions of members of the Green family a lacuna that I, with my inherited Ashkenazi acumen, can already see him correcting in the paperback edition.

“...unparalleled contributions of notorious underachievers like Marx, ...Trotsky ....”
Yeah. Marx and Trotsky??? Sure, Mass murder due to political ideology sure is an “unparalled contribution”, for sure. Add Hitler and Mao in there too, because they sure as Hell were influenced by them.
Einstein, absolutely made great, positive contributions. But including Marx and Trotsky in that list is appalling.
Undoubtedly there is an (intentional) bit of humorous navel-gazing here, but I tend to agree with the general premise of the article.
We see the same principles at work in first-generation Chinese immigrants in terms of achievement, because, well, more is expected of them by the family, and they are drilled to study, learn and study. And then repeat. (That’s why an 19-year old Chinese American daughter of one of our immigrant friends is a classical pianist, a ballet dancer, a math whiz and a pageant-winning beauty queen - all the while attending college. And why her older brother graduated from Harvard and then Stanford business school and makes more than people 30 years out of college). Its not rocket science.
And I especially agree that the very fact that the Jews were so singled out for persecution was probably in an unintended way an important factor in fostering these cultural traits of an shall we say outsized ehasis on family and cultural unity, and study, and study, and hard work and hard work.
And guess what? It yields results (which tend to be resented by the slugs of humanity who then seek to persecute the achievers).
A principle that is on display in every modern society.
Oh, yes - there is the IQ factor too. And some groups tend to have more of it. Specifically, the Northern Europeans, the Northern Asians (think: China and Japan) and Jews.
And that may have something to do with the evolutionary stresses imposed on the people of the Northern hemisphere during the last Ice Age, which, at one point, came close to wiping out the Northern human population. A real discriminatory natural selection fator that the peoples of the Tropics were not exposed to.
Thank you.
Only saw this article.
So this guy is casually swabbing and analyzing his neighbors kids dna without their knowledge. I would have a discussion with this enlightened individual...with my fists.
I will play Scott Adams here for you:
The fact that he has included Marx and Trotsky above is NOT necessarily meant as a compliment to either man.
He is, however, pointing out that these two fellows had an outsized impact on humanity due to their own particular extraordinary sets of skills.
Pointing out that someone had an extraordinary set of skills that led them to outsized achievement (like noting Hitler’s skill for oratory, as an example) is NOT, repeat, NOT the same as saying that you agree with their policies or ideologies.
I’m betting there is some inherited IQ, but mostly the ATTITUDE of the Jewish family, which encourages (nags) the children to do well and to succeed.
This attitude does not exist in the democrat’s first and foremost constituency. In fact, it promotes laziness, indolence, and blaming its failures on Whitey.

Google “Sarcasm” and “humor” and then rethink your comment in the context of the various canards about the Jews drinking the blood of gentile kids from the Middle Ages. You’re welcome.
Understood. Not slamming Jews here. Slamming some of the assholes that just happened to BE Jews and caused so much misery in the world.
Lots of gentiles fall in that category too... because there’s more of us.
And pretty much most of Islam.
Comes down to live and let live. And some people just can’t seem to grasp that simple phrase. And all through history, those people needed to be taught the lesson, most times painfully.
And still don’t learn.
Understood.
Just rankled me seeing those two names anywhere near Einstein.
I've had them trotskies before, dern it. They can leave some real marx!
“...They can leave some real marx!...”
Yeah... marks, all right... usually bloody handprints and stains where innocent people died.
Satire alert.
They've lied often and fiercely enough to convince half the American public that up is down, wrong is right, truth is lies, life is death.
What's left to see is how much of what we---you, me, others like us---how much of what we were we still are.
Only good thing Stalin did was to bump off Trotsky.
I think you miss the author’s sense of humor....
And my tight end Ertz when Erfurt!*
*: Football reference...
“...I think you miss the authors sense of humor...”
So do the millions of innocent folks who died as a result of Marx and Trotsky’s “genius”. Pretty sure if those folks had a Mulligan, they’d pick Einstein’s brand of genius over either of those two losers in a heartbeat.
But yeah, I think you’re right. I’m pretty much a grumpy ol’ bastard today.
