Special Operator 1st Class Corey Scott, a medic in the platoon, told the investigators: You could tell he was perfectly OK with killing anybody that was moving. Such dire descriptions of Gallagher, who had eight combat deployments and sometimes went by the nickname Blade, are in marked contrast to Trumps portrayal of him at a recent political rally in Florida as one of our great fighters.

Good post. Thoughtful questions.
I’m also interested in knowing if the NYT is misusing the term MEDIC for a Navy Corpsman.
Question: Do SEALS in combat have to make split second decisions with the aim of staying alive and keeping others alive? Yes.
Question: Do those they are fighting want them dead? Yes
Question: Does killing more of those bad guys mean the SEALS get to stay alive longer? Yes
Question: Does all this take place in seconds? Yes
So Shut Up Medic.
Well...could we send Eddie in there to do the job??????????????
Happened to my unit on our first deployment to Iraq. Took our tanks away gave us hummers and retrained us as motorized infantry.
The Doc is a SEAL just like the rest of them.
I know, just a potentially different mind set.
He’s certainly tougher than I am, but I don’t get ratting on him. It’s not even proof, just an opinion.
The guy deployed eight times so Im willing to give him leeway. The thing that bothers me though is that (according to the article) out of a 22 man platoon 7 testified against him. Two testified that they never saw him do anything wrong and 13 refused to cooperate. If those 7 really were making everything up wouldnt you think 13 that refused to cooperate would have said something to protect Gallagher from false accusations?
“Oh cool, the medic wants to talk about war and tactics.”
The last person I would want advice on how to fight a war is a medic.
Like asking a janitor how a company should be run.
Thats the quote I was thinking about.
They had film and testimony from his team on Today news. They even put warnings up about some of the film where Gallagher pushed the terrorist down. They left out so much info like Gallagher was found guilty of posing with a corpse but failed to mention his team did as well. Today show totally eviscerated Gallagher.
Medics in SF outfits are, well, to put bluntly, SF warriors. They know a thing or two about such topics.
If Chief Gallagher was such a problem... fire him. There’s no need to work-up fake charges, pull his Trident and do those sorts of things. But I notice that all-to-often that is exactly how the Left rolls in this country. They destroy somebody in the process of getting a desirable (for them) political outcome.
Just based off my past experience... the friggin’ docs are the most sadistic MFers around.
LOL, then I defer to your opinion.
In fact most members of seal team 7 couldnt stand the unethical Gallagher and no amount of knee jerk responses by arm chair warriors will turn him into anything but the murderer of prisoner of war that he was. Only the stupid navy prosecutors who offered immunity to a medic who then claimed that he murdered the prisoner saved him.
The Navy was right to want to strip him of his seal status. He is and was a disgrace to the warrior class. Only a guy like mr trump who has never been in the military and has not been trained in the Laws of war would turn a dirtbag into a hero.
Actual warriors deplore Gallagher and no amount of arm chair website heros can defeat that fact so please save all the vitriol that seems to go with killing the messenger. There is a reason his shipmates testified against him and now are still giving press statements about what a dirtbag he is.
“The last person I would want advice on how to fight a war is a medic.”
I’m sure that I will be corrected if I’m wrong, but I think we can safely assume that the “medic” is a trained SEAL operator first — then goes onto learn his specialty (combat medicine) along with Army Rangers, USAF PJ’s and others at Ft. Bragg.
I did one tour in Afghanistan, almost 100% on a FOB. I cannot imagine 8 tours in the field...
You could tell he was perfectly OK with killing anybody that was moving.
That’s exactly who I want in my foxhole!
A hit piece on Eddie Gallagher. Just what we expect from the NYT. Fiction dressed up as the truth.
Where and how did NBC get the footage? Is it public property? Doesn’t it offend the personal rights of Chief Gallagher? I’ve never heard of testimony and film from a military court being released to the MSM.
