Senator Doug Jones says he may vote to acquit Trump if fellow Democrats fail to 'connect the dots'...

Full Title: "Senator Doug Jones says he may vote to acquit Trump if fellow Democrats fail to 'connect the dots' during impeachment trial as polls show him losing 2020 election in Alabama to Jeff Sessions"

Senator Doug Jones of Alabama says he could vote to acquit President Trump in his upcoming impeachment trial if his Democratic colleagues don’t ‘connect the dots’ and prove his guilt.

The Democrat, who faces a tough re-election fight - possibly against his predecessor, former US Attorney General Jeff Sessions - said the allegations against the president were ‘serious’ but he is open to voting not guilty because of ‘gaps’.

‘I'm trying to see if the dots get connected,’ Jones told ABC News on Sunday.

‘If that is the case, then I think it's a serious matter. I think it's an impeachable matter.

‘But if these dots aren't connected and there are other explanations that I think are consistent with innocence, I will go that way too.

‘What I really want to see, though, is to fill in the gaps,’ he said.

‘There are gaps.’

The Democratic-led House of Representatives approved two impeachment charges against Trump on Wednesday over his pressuring of Ukraine to investigate a political rival, Joe Biden.

There is little chance he will be convicted and removed from office through a trial in a Senate controlled by fellow Republicans.

Democrats are pushing to call top Trump aides to testify, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants the Senate to consider the case without hearing from new witnesses.

Jones told ABC News on Sunday that he is in no rush to make up his mind.

‘People can make up their mind with gaps in testimony, but I would like to see a full and complete picture,’ the senator from Alabama said.

Actually... no matter how Jones votes, it appears that Repuiblican, Jeff Sessions is going to get the GOP nod to run for that Senate seat, and therefore Doug Jones is dead in the water.

Jones just committed political suicide by saying he is thinking about voting to acquit POTUS, Trump from being impeached....the idiot needed to and should of said openly...”Of course I am voting to support POTUS, Donald J. Trump...I do not now or forever stand with Democrats, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff & Jerrold Nalder...period!!

“He was never going to win re-election but he knows if he votes for this crap even the most long of shots is done”
````````````````````
That’s it. He’s going to get defeated, that’s a 99% certainty. He shouldn’t have been there in the first place and wouldn’t have been if not for Roy Moore and his theatrics. He’s hoping that if he shows just the tiniest bit of backbone and votes against the democrats that it might fool some Alabama voters who are dumb enough to fall for it. It won’t work, but that’s about all he’s got.
Too little too late Doug. You’ve been exactly what you swore up and down that you would not be on the campaign trail - a rubber stamp for Schumer. You don’t represent Alabama. You represent a party which is in the midst of a mass psychosis.
Jones to me is a toss up, he knows he can’t win if he votes for this crap, but on the same token he’s got a snowballs chance in hell of beating Sessions... So he could vote for it because he knows he’s a dead man walking anyway.
Manchin will NEVER vote for this thing...
Tester I would think not likely as well.. t
Shaheen would be one I would watch Brown (OH) would be other Dems I would watch.
Shaheen is actually up in 2020, in a State Trump is almost certain to take.... Unless the GOP put up a loser candidate and refuse to take the field, She’s going to have a fight to keep her seat... If she votes to impeach, it probably will cost her her seat, as long as the GOP put up a reasonable candidate.
There are others I would watch... Brown and Tester don’t face voters until 2024, so he may follow party line with hopes people will forget it
by then.
Shaheen on the other hand.... She faces voters in NOV... She’ll be a good Bellweather. Manchin knows he’s done in WV even if he doesn’t go back up for re-election until 2024... He knows his state and its electorate, and where they stand on all this, and they know his political career in WV is over if he votes for this.
So Shaheen is a good bell weather... You see her break with the party line, you know there is no doubt that this impeachment thing is going to cost the Democrats HUGE this fall.
Bradley Byrne is still running, albeit a distant third to Sessions and Tuberville, but ahead of Moore.
Bradley Byrne is the kind of guy who ought to run for governor, although there’s stiff competition this next time around with Tommy Battle of Huntsville likely running for governor.
Presently, it’s time for the cast of characters like Sessions and Shelby to retire out, and bring some youth to the Alabama group.
There are no dots and we want no dems.
Vote however you want, we’re still voting you out.
Since you brought it up, do you think Battle will do well outside of Northern Alabama? From what I’ve seen and heard, there seems to be some resentment towards the Huntsville area by the rest of the state.
Who? We have Sessions, Moore, Tuberville running. No one else with name and followers.
My guess is it will come down to Sessions or Moore. I loved Sessions as a senator but he was terrible as AG.
What’s a voter to do.
If there are “gaps” it’s only because Schiff created them. Foolish remarks, fodder for the media.
