Rep. Torres Small [D] will support impeachment (NM-2)

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Days before the House is expected to vote on two articles of impeachment brought against President Donald Trump, Rep. Xochitl Torres Small, D-N.M., announced Sunday afternoon that she believes “impeachment is the necessary response.”

“We cannot allow any President of either party to abuse the power of the highest office, jeopardizing our country’s national security in the process, to pressure foreign leaders to conduct investigations against political rivals,” Torres Small, who represents the 2nd Congressional District, wrote in a statement. “We also cannot allow any President to obstruct Congress’ power to investigate impeachable offenses by prohibiting White House and other administration officials from testifying or providing evidence. I must act to protect our national security, our Constitution, and the integrity of our elections.”

Torres Small -- Another so-called moderate Dem who was elected due to Dem voter harvesting on election day. Unless former Rep Steve Pearce gets back into the race I'm not opportunistic about Pubs taking back the seat. It's still six months until the June primary and the three announced candidates are already at each other's throats. The loser in 2018 was Yvette Herrell who has a lot of support but can be abrasive and whose campaign said that the young woman candidate Claire Chase disparaged President Trump, a charge she denies. Claire worked in Steve Pearce's office and is married to an oil heir and has two very young children. But during the 2018 election, Herrell lost the support of some Republicans from Alamogordo. The third candidate, Chris Mathys is a very conservative, a supporter of strong immigration enforcement and also supports the the President. Given that registration in the district is Democratic, whoever is chosen as the Republican candidate will have to win independents and Democrats as well as Republican candidates (Torres Small is Hispanic).

THE SENATE SHOULD SEND IT RIGHT BACK TO THE HOUSE AND ASK THEM TO CLARIFY WHAT ACTUAL CRIMES THEY MEAN.

“Abuse of Power” is not a crime unless you point out how, specifically, he abused it with what criminal act.

“Obstruction of Congress” is not an actual crime. It’s his job as a co-equal branch of government to provide checks and balances.
