The U.S. Senate on Wednesday confirmed the 50th appeals court judge appointed by President Trump, helping to fulfill his promise to remake the federal bench with a conservative bent.

Lawrence VanDyke, tapped for the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, cleared the Senate by 51 - 44, making him the 50th judicial nominee appointed to a federal circuit court since the president took office in January of 2017.

By comparison, President Obama appointed 55 federal circuit court judges in all of his eight years, putting Mr. Trump and Senate Republicans on a much more fast-tracked pace.

Mr. Trump has also appointed two Supreme Court justices in his nearly three years in office and 120 district court judges.

The turtle could have done much better. I would give him a C.

How many openings are there still and how many are pending?

Too many.

What’s the balance now? Will we have to stop calling it the (deservedly so) 9th circus?

It’s all tied up in the 9th Circus.

People should thank Turtle and President Trump.
Unofficial total now at 182 judges confirmed. In three years!

That is simply amaze balls!

Oh and President Trump could see another two SC justice opportunities.
We’re looking at potentially a 7-2 Supreme Court thanks to President Trump.

I don’t hate McConnell, although I recognize that he’s not everything we might desire in an aggressive majority leader.

But with all the judicial appointments, at least he’s good for something, as opposed to the craven Paul Ryan. Yet some on these threads have lumped the two of them together.

When conservatives get in a president who is not a socialist leftist, he or she will be in office 4 or 8 years. Went we conservatives get a federal judge who is conservative and who rules per the Constitution, not the socialist leftist wishlist, that judge is likely to be on the bench up to 20 years—a big win.

Collins voted NO, but it DID NOT MATTER.

Why? Because the other two hard-RINOs in the Senate, Murkowski and Romney both voted YES.

See how that works? Even with RINOs, it’s very rare for them to all vote against a judicial pick - often they vote FOR that pick, as was the case of Bumatay yesterday (when all 3 RINOs voted to confirm, but not a single Democrat), or one or two stray, but not all of them.

But what about the Democrats? Surely there would be one or two (maybe Manchin, who is ‘supposed’ to vote conservative at least some of the time, or Doug Jones, who is fighting for his seat in Alabama).

NOPE!!! Neither of these Democrats, nor any others voted for Van Dyke.

So, if the PURISTS here still think there’s ‘no difference between the parties’, please READ THE ABOVE and please try to understand it, at least when voting in November elections.

“The turtle could have done much better. I would give him a C. How many openings are there still and how many are pending? Too many.”

Agree, but a big part of that problem was that Jeff Flake cut off voting on nominations a year ago (right before he retired), due to some minor gripe he had with Trump.

Why did Flake have SO MUCH POWER, when he was just a single, low-level Senator? Because enough Republicans STAYED HOME, out of ‘principle’, I guess, and allowed the Democrats to bring our number down to 51 Senators. So by STAYING HOME, out of ‘principle’, I guess, Conservative Voters actually enabled that asshole (Flake) to cut off the confirmation of about 20 Senators, and set Trump back by at least 6 months.

Sorry guys, but votes have CONSEQUENCES, even when they’re done out of ‘principle’.

Bottom line is fight the battles in the Primaries, but in November, ALWAYS VOTE Republican, at least for Senator, if you want Trump to actually be able to get his judges to the bench.
