A viral video shows a college Republican leader being assaulted Friday at Sacramento State University after he said he confronted a fellow student about a nasty online comment about abortion.
The Sacramento Bee reports police are investigating after the video showed Floyd Johnson II, former president of the Sacramento State University College Republicans, being hit repeatedly and threatened, allegedly by student Keaton Hill.
Both students are political science majors, and Hill allegedly has been aggressive and violent toward conservative students in the past, according to local news reports.
Johnson said the assault stemmed from a social media post that a mutual friend shared Thursday. He said he and Hill argued online after Hill wrote a nasty comment on the post: “I hope that kid on your page dies of whatever cancer they have.” Hill later said he did not write the post.
On Friday morning, Johnson said they had class together, and Hill continued to be nasty. During class, he said Hill told him “f— you” as he walked by. After class, Hill allegedly assaulted him in an incident that Johnson captured on video.
The video shows Johnson approaching Hill, commenting, “Leave my friends alone, alright?” Hill mocks him and then starts recording a video on his own phone. When Johnson asks what he has done, Hill responds, “You’re harassing me” and then appears to hit Johnson.
The video shows Hill walking away and Johnson following him to confront him about the assault. Hill turns around and appears to hit Johnson again. Another student restrains Hill while Johnson records.
“You’re going to end up f—— dead!” Hill yells before breaking free and allegedly hitting Johnson a third time.

Johnson said he filed a police report against Hill.
“I really hope the school takes firm action on this because this is not only something that can set the bar for this is not allowed on our campus, but also punish this kid for also engaging in what he engaged in,” Johnson told ABC 10.
According to the Bee: “Hill and Johnson were also involved in an altercation last year at a College Republicans event in response to the Stephon Clark shooting. In a video, Hill tried to slap the person recording a video and called him a homophobic slur while Johnson attempted to restrain an incensed student.”
Hill did apologize in a comment to local news outlets, but he said he was provoked.
“I apologize for lunging at Floyd’s phone, although I strongly emphasize that it was not without provocation,” he said.
BizPac Review reports the video went viral, in part, because pro-Second Amendment advocate Kaitlin Bennett shared it online. Later, Bennett said Hill sent her a video calling her a “b—-” and telling her to “kiss his butthole.”
University President Robert Nelsen condemned the violence in a statement online.
“Everyone deserves to feel safe and secure in expressing their identity and beliefs,” Nelsen said. “I am deeply disturbed and appalled to learn that there was a fistfight on campus today between two students. We are investigating the situation, but I want to make it unequivocally clear that violence is never the answer.”
Pro-life advocates increasingly have become targets of assault, vandalism and other incidents. In April, another older pro-life woman allegedly was assaulted outside of a Kentucky abortion facility and was hospitalized. A month earlier, someone brutally attacked an older pro-life man outside a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in San Francisco. Then in May, the pro-life group Created Equal released a video showing a female student punch a young pro-life advocate in the face. And in October, an Arizona abortionist allegedly pulled a gun on a pro-life advocate who was standing outside an abortion facility in Phoenix.
