Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren is slipping in both national and early state polls, and it looks like the slide in support is happening in California as well.
A new poll from the UC Berkeley Institute of Government Studies conducted for the Los Angeles Times shows that Warren lost seven percentage points since the poll was last conducted in September, and is no longer leading the Democratic primary field.
The new leader is Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who is up five percentage points since the poll was last conducted.
Here are top five candidates from the poll:
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders - 24 percent (up five percentage points since September) Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren - 22 percent (down seven percentage points since September) Former Vice President Joe Biden - 14 percent (down six percentage points since September) South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg - 12 percent (up six percentage points since September) California Sen. Kamala Harris - 7 percent (down one percentage point since September) *****.
Buttigieg's California surge also coincides with a national surge that has vaulted him into the top tier of candidates. While Biden appears to be trending down in California, his national numbers have not seemed to move much in recent weeks.

There are curious scandal rumors circulating about Mrs. Glezmers father - no details.
All this says is that Bernie had some connection factor over a 90-day period in California, and edged up five points. At this point, the primary election is roughly 90 days away. If Bernie could continue the theme, picking up another five points...then you could predict he will ‘safely’ win California’s primary.
If you check out the Iowa polls, Bernie is fairly close to leading, or following in second place.
In Nevada (one of the first four primaries), Bernie is anchored down to 3rd place, with no chance of improving. Same story in South Carolina. New Hampshire is pure Bernie territory and likely a win.
This turmoil might be a consequence of Biden’s political outlook collapsing.
If Warren hadn’t shot herself in the foot with her stupid ideas about financing her programs, she’d be the one to step in when Biden went to the great political roach motel.
If this thing comes down to Bernie vs Biden it could get _really_ funny.
Biden punches out Bernie on stage (to prove how tough he is) and Bernie croaks.
Biden arrested for murder....
Grab the popcorn!
Biden would be a slam dunk for Trump, but man, I REALLY want Joe Biden to be the King Rat.
With Donald being Donald and Crazy Joe being whatever personality is being manifested at that particular moment, it would be a Presidential Battle for the Ages.
Truly, the kind of quality entertainment that money just can’t buy.
Biden starts a set of push ups (to prove how tough he is) and both Biden and Bernie croak.
I find it strange that the Dems need primeries and polls... I was thinking they had it all figured out before the end...
I’m starting to wonder if maybe they don’t have quite the lock that I thought they had.
I just got a card in the mail from my local elections board, telling me that I could change my party registration for the primaries, otherwise I don’t get to vote for Presidential candidates.
Got me to thinking that if I along with other California FReepers were to request a Democrat (it says “Democratic” LOL) ballot, maybe we could have some fun with the final numbers here in the land of fruits, nuts and flakes. After all, our primary has been moved up to March, so we are more “relevant” in our picks.
Anyone else interested? And, if so, who would be your worst candidate and why? At the moment, I’m torn between Steyer and Kameltoe. Gotta give it to our “favorite sons”, but I’m open to other suggestions. Buttplug or Pocahonky are intriguing, but I’m not gay or a wannabe Indian, so they don’t speak to my demographic.
Biden would plea down to manslaughter and continue the campaign.
They have a lock on second place.
Bernie’s problem is that half of democrats want a moderate type, with less socialism attached to the brand. It would make a great campaign with Bernie....capitalism versus socialism.
Presently, I think this will go down to the convention and some shocker will come out of this (probably not Bernie, Warren, or Bloomberg).
“Biden would plea down to manslaughter and continue the campaign.”
They would argue that it was improper and impeachable for the Trump DOJ to investigate any of his political opponents !
“Biden starts a set of push ups (to prove how tough he is) and..”
His teeth fall out on the floor?
Hillary, or Michelle could still step forward. How old is Kerry? I heard he served in Vietnam.
If you are “decline to state” (as I am) you don’t need to change your registration this year because the Dems will allow you to vote in the primary. You just need to request a Dem ballot.
I was planning to post the “who should I vote for” question on another thread. Strategically, does it make sense to go with Bernie (who is least likely to beat Trump) or perhaps boost another loser. Choices, choices!
How bad can the field be that they pick a guy who had a heart attack a little more than 60 days ago.
???
Well, this goes to show you that a real “RED”, Sanders can beat-out a “faux red Indian/Marxist/liar” in a state that leads the US in communists, Marxists, Red/Black Anarchists, Red/Greens and insane Democrat politicians and voters.
The only new episode of “Weekend at Bernie’s” is one of Sanders spending a couple weekends sitting on the San Andreas Fault. If something were to happen (Praise the Lord and get on with the earthquake), Bernie’s last words would be “It wasn’t my fault”.
This Democrat race to the bottom reminds me of the South Park episode I just saw where the kids, who hate baseball, are desperately trying to lose a game so they don’t have to play the rest of the whole summer, while the other team, in the same boat, has gotten so good at sucking that they can’t lose to them.
