Defense Secretary Mark Esper fired Navy Secretary Richard Spencer Sunday over his handling of the case of a Navy SEAL who posed for a photo next to an Islamic State terrorist's corpse in Iraq, a Pentagon spokesman said Sunday.
Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper has asked for the resignation of Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer after losing trust and confidence in him regarding his lack of candor over conversations with the White House involving the handling of Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher," Department of Defense spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said in a statement Sunday.
Controversy continued to swirl around whether or not the Navy would strip Gallagher of his Trident pin, ousting him from the prestigious SEALs after he was demoted from chief petty officer to a 1st class petty officer following his conviction in July. President Trump this month restored Gallaghers rank and ordered that the Navy halt its internal review of Gallagher's actions from 2017 that resulted in a high-profile war crimes case, for which he was found not guilty of the murder of an Islamic State fighter in Iraq.

Exerpt due to rules.
If SecNav disobeys the CinC and is not fired, why should anyone in the Navy obey any order?
Well deserved. Sheesh!
Well, good, if true.
Trump had no choice but to assert his authority. And this makes a great test case.
There’s a huge difference between a chief executive firing an employee and a political leader ruling over a private citizen. The left will try to do its typical semantic distortion over that point.
There’s no right to be an employee. Especially not one paid by taxpayers.
Another rat flushed out of his rathole.
“I thought he claimed that he had no problem following the President’s instruction/order.”
Yeah, sorta. But what reportedly got him canned was going around his boss, Esper and trying to cut a deal directly with the White House.
Not a smart career move, would you say? I guess he’ll be Schiff’s next witness now.
OK...chain of command...got it.
Reads like the SECDEF fired the SECNAV for disrespecting the SECDEF, not the POTUS. Trumps should fire the SECDEF and that Admiral Green as well. JMHO
Great post.
There’s no military if there’s no obeying the chain of command
How dare he?
#### you greta, THIS is when it should be used
:)
Now punish Vindman according to the UCMJ.
Now, to the Dem-Left Cult and its Media: we all know that you are going to create a huge crisis out of this and attack our President as out of control, Dictator, and Hitler, so before you do may I suggest you web search and remind yourself about the Obama Purge of many top military brass for much less.
Youre welcome.
Just what I was thinking. Ill bet Shiff has already contacted him.
GOOD! He deserved it.
Here’s my point: I’m in combat, who do I want beside me? Gallagher or Spencer? Answer is pretty clear and the right guy got fired.
He should be court marshaled and reduced in rank.
Looks like SECNAV got Schiffed out!
Flag Rank Perfumed Princes hate it.
The troops who catch the bullets love it.
