“The hearing room applause is deeply offensive.”

No kidding. My wife asked me why such behavior was tolerated, and I told her that the Rats invited them to the proceedings, knowing full well there would be such outbursts, and they welcome it. Believe me, if there would have been applause over something that benefitted Trump you can be damned sure that Schiff would have admonished the audience. This is all theater.

Schiff has NOTHING. The Republicans can't call their own witnesses. They can't ask certain questions. They can't go down certain lines of inquiry....yet

All of the witnesses, all of the transcripts, make the President's case. Kangaroos would be embarrassed to show up for these proceedings.

I mean, I’m on the way to work, and I’m listening to Ken Starr and Chris Wallace saying that this is going to be game changer day....

Then I tune in here, and all the while I’m thinking Sondlin is a straight guy,

But no, he’s getting bashed right out of the gate.

It wasn’t until like almost 11am that was clear to me, that is going to be another loser day for the dems....

Crap!

The damn deep state......you know years ago, I lept from a two story balcony to stop a girl from being raped.

Took stabs everywhere.
Girl was saved.

Ha, in this day and age it’s a lot more fluid than that. ;<)

Rep. Turner to Sondland, noting that no one told him that Trump was linking aid to investigations, asks if he has any evidence. Sondland replies “only my own presumption”

The money quote of the day, right there.

What?! President Trump’s “hubris”? That’s as crazy as Schiff’s eyes. Donald Trump ran because he thought he could make a positive difference for the nation he loves, and you call that hubris? Yes, he was an outsider to the DC Swamp, but the status quo desperately needed upending. As a result we are now in an existential fight for what kind of nation we will be going forward. If The Swamp wins, our constitutional form of government will end in all but name only. The Swamp will keep the veneer, but the substance will be gone forever.

I’m not able to watch, but from this thread and what I am seeing in the news I am very confused. People are acting like the smoking gun was dropped today and Trump is fully believed guilty. Yet some are saying it is a nothing burger but still speculating on a impeachment trial in the senate. I had hoped this would go the way of the russia investigation, but it seems to still have legs. And the wild card in all this is bolton. If it goes to the senate, bolton will testify and I believe he means to damage Trump.

The Democrats are still in a box. It's pretty clear that the Senate will not remove Trump-it would blow up the GOP for a generation, if it ever recovered. And even though the current GOP doesn't really like Trump, they still hate the Democrats and will not hand them a win like this.

But if the House votes for impeachment before the holiday break, the Senate trial starts right during the beginning of primary season, and that throws all sorts of monkey wrenches into the mix. And, a Trump exoneration in late January or February puts the wind at his back for the rest of the 2020 campaign.

On the other hand, if the House holds on to impeachment and tries to time it later in the campaign, it is certain that the public, which already is not that interested, will be completely bored.

The bottom line, for the Democrats, there is no good time for a Senate trial, and Pelosi knows it. Even this inquiry isn't getting much traction outside the political junkie class.

“But I really wonder how the moderate RATS can sleep at night!”

Most of the RATS are sociopaths....they have no conscious to bother them.

And the moderates in the dem party are few in number, if they exist at all.

With all due respect, I think you may be giving the democrats far too much credit for having any scruples, integrity, or caring whether they have any real proof or not. They don’t care, have the one sided rules advantage, will lie, and DO have the votes to impeach in the house and send it to the Senate factual proof or not...

That is indeed legally “impeached” at that point.

The trial in the Senate is only a secondary action to determine whether “to remove from office” or not. But he is still and remains “impeached” from the house vote whether they remove him or not in the Senate. So unless you can miraculously produce a “Republican majority in the house”, this is very very most likely to happen based on lack of scruples and integrity factual proof or not.
