IOWA (WTHR) — South Bend Mayor and presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is gaining ground with voters in Iowa.
A new Monmouth University Poll found Buttigieg leading among voters in Iowa.
Here are the standings:
Buttigieg - 22%
Biden - 19%
Warren - 18%
Sanders - 13%
Buttigieg has gained 14 points since August.

Away from the public the DNC is gripping over this guy getting traction in the race. He could do well in Iowa and New Hampshire, and he’ll have some momentum going into Super Tuesday. The powers that be don’t want this guy anywhere near the presidential ticket, whether he’s on top or at the bottom!

It shows you just how far America has fallen when gayfer male married to a gayfer male is the leading democratic nominee in IOWA of all places..... Who is the husband in that marriage or do then take turns. I don’t know how that kinky stuff works. If he is elected president will a first queer. This is uncharted waters for most of us.

His support in the African American community is zero. They are religious, and also tend to equate “gay” with “pedophile.” The Dems can’t win the White House without the Black Vote turning out in big numbers. Buttigieg could doom them, even if women and suburbanites like him.
The far left also doesn’t like him because he doesn’t support the same M4A that Warren does.
Honestly speaking, I think he is their best candidate. But that ain’t sayin much. Can he win? Probably not.
I think you’re right that the abstract idea of “he’s gay” might not bother everyone, but actually seeing him kissing whatshisname, and even moreso the idea of a First Gay Husband decorating the White House will turn a whole lot of middle America away.
Mayor Pete is the most normal candidate in the Democratic field. Really.
