I thought aircraft carriers were siting ducks and not part of the latest military naval technology.

What China invested in when we were wasting trillions in the Mideast for 20 years.

The defender has to spend money on weapons all the time, because they dont know when they will be attacked.

The aggressor has the advantage of being able to defer spending money until just before they are ready to make their move.

My guess is China is looking at making some moves in the next 10 years.

Exactly. Building carriers and effectively operating them - two different things.

In a war with a first world country, I wouldn’t count on the carrier being there when the strike sortie comes back.

China’s challenge will be keeping them afloat when their gender and age crises rear their ugly heads.

And it is funded with US dollars. Trump is the first president with the will to stand up to them.

Yep, the US has 80+ years of experience in building, maintaining, and operating them. All the stolen plans in the world won’t train a flight deck crew.

China is busily building a fleet of the largest container ships the world has ever seen. -— But like the Trojan Horse of ancient Greek civilization, the fleet could potentially be used by China in a spectacular, lightening invasion of Taiwan. Could the hollow hulls and empty decks of Chinese container ships carry infantry and mechanized divisions for a devastating attack on Taiwan, securing the island before the U.S. could respond?

They will just use conscripts. They have to get rid of the surplus males who can’t find a wife somehow.

6 carriers....

With Six You Get Eggroll. (At least we have that....)

Movie (1968 with Doris Day and Brian Keith) Synopsis added:”The title of the movie comes from a scene where the family goes out for Chinese food, and one of the kids notices that because they are a large group, they get something extra: “With six you get eggroll!”

"...the breakneck speed at which it is being produced and transferred to the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN)..."

Amazing what you can do with Gorilla Glue and duct tape... They learned, apparently, from the Russians...

The Chinese are getting a bigger bang for their buck destroying America by sending in container ships loaded with fentanyl offloaded into Mexico for distribution north by the cartels.

I wonder why we don’t build our carriers at breakneck speed?///

No, their planes are all garbage and their pilots all have squinty eyes because they wear coke bottle goggles, just like the Japanese carrier pilots before WWII.

Or so we thought

the hull appears to measure forty meters in width by forty-eight meters in length.

Doesn’t sound right to me but what do I know.

Speaking of those container ships, I wouldn’t wonder
if the Chinese haven’t containerized some of their missiles.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Iranians haven’t done the
same thing.
