U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) announced a new bill on Wednesday, the Family Friendly Schools Act, to make school days longer by a total of three hours.
The presidential candidate wants to start the school day by at least 8 a.m. and end it at 6 p.m. in order to, among other things, align with working parents’ schedules more sufficiently.

Good luck getting cities and towns to fund that.
Why not bring in bunk beds and have them live there.
My wife is a teacher and I work a ten hour day plus an hour drive to and from work. We have very little family time as it is, teachers are always staying after school for meetings and extracurricular activities.
If my kids dont get out until 6 by the time they get on the bus and get home it will be close to 7. Once home they have homework and depending on the time of the year they may be involved in a sport. When are families suppose to spend time together under this plan?
