PALM BEACH, Fla. — President Donald Trump filed the paperwork to change his official residence from New York City to Palm Beach.
Trump filed in September with the Palm Beach County Circuit Court changing his primary residence from Trump Tower to Mar-a-Lago, his resort in Palm Beach.

The real goal for the wealthy who move out of New York is to escape its estate tax, which is 16 percent on estates above $5.5 million. For a New Yorker worth $100 million, being forced to pay a year or two of state income taxes after an audit is worth it to avoid the estate tax.
FYI, we finally left NY a year ago for Florida and are living a much happier life. Our adult children also moved with us.
I always wanted the Trump library to be in Florida.
Our target move date is May.
They would have reversed an entire election result had the courts only given them a little more time to work.
It would make more sense to donate all the furniture to charity, take a deduction, and then buy new stuff at your destination city.
