What socialist/communist would do a photo-op in front of empty shelves?

A growing number of Millennials show support for communism and socialism, a survey from the Victims of Communism found.
The survey, conducted by the Victims of Communism and polled by the research and data firm YouGov, found that 70% of Millennials are likely to vote socialist and that one in three Millennials perceive communism as “favorable.” The survey is part of the Victims of Communism’s report “U.S. Attitudes Toward Socialism, Communism, and Collectivism,” which polled 2,100 people in the United States who were 16 and older with a margin of error of +/- 2.4%.

“The historical amnesia about the dangers of communism and socialism is on full display in this year’s report,” said Marion Smith, executive director of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. “When we don’t educate our youngest generations about the historical truth of 100 million victims murdered at the hands of communist regimes over the past century, we shouldn’t be surprised at their willingness to embrace Marxist ideas,” Smith added. “We need to redouble our efforts to educate America’s youth about the history of communist regimes and the dangers of socialism today.”
Millennials polled also said they consider President Donald Trump the “biggest threat to world peace,” rating Trump as more dangerous to world peace than Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, or Chinese President Xi Jinping. Ten percent of Millennials said Trump is “responsible for more deaths and human rights abuses” than mass-murder and Russian leader Joseph Stalin or notorious German dictator Adolf Hitler.
Well duh, they get taught that crap from 1st grade on in our stellar public school system.
Utter failure of the public school system.
I’ve spent 12 years of my life outside the United States. I did this as a dependent of a military member and as a military member myself. You know, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz was right, there’s no place like home!
All my nieces and nephews are millenials. All highly intelligent genetically. All ignorant as hell of the real world, but think they know everything about everything.
The poor little fools have been so brainwashed by today’s “ed biz” that it is pathetic.
Every socialist I know has never spent any time in a socialist country.
I used to be a five alarm flaming lib. My epiphany took quite a while, but looking back on it, the road to mine started after I spent six months out of country in my early 20s.
I was being facetious, but it might be something to consider. I bet it would be far more educational that a Pell grant.
1 in 3 are easy odds. They will also be labeled as the do nothing generation. as they will embrace free legal pot, etc from the soros cabal. easy to beat up on and win against by us in my humble opinion.
The Boomers were largely messed up hippies when they were young. GenXers were flannel wearing depressed grungers. Youth will be youth. They will grow up. Most of the Millenials I know eschew this type of pro-socialist stupidity. Maybe this organization is intentionally drawing from cities, to produce sensationalist headlines and get more donations?
No better way to be educated than to experience the reality of your beliefs. Reality will correct fantasy.
90% of the Millennials polled thought Donald Trump is NOT responsible for more deaths than Hitler or Stalin. However, they chose to use the reverse of 10% think he is. That makes a better headline for the Never-Trumpers.
They've seen pictures of Che depicted as a hero....not the terrorist he was.
When Cuba is discussed, Castor is hailed as a forward thinking leader.
These kids have never done without.
Food is always at the grocery store. The power is always on. And there is toilet paper.
IF they could tour the real Cuba or China they'd see socialism up close.
They might even figure out it doesn't work.

So long as they become a rich leader.
I think there is a lot of confusion among young people as to what the term “communism” means. Does it mean a totalitarian state that has nationalized all private industries? Does it include countries like China that permit some private industry but are still authoritarian in nature? Does it mean European countries that have national health care? It’s hard to say when the term is thrown at anyone who disagrees with you, much like “racist”.

Incidentally, I only just recently heard of the Victims of Communism group and statue in DC. It’s something we should be supporting.

Ignorance is strength
1 of 3 is all it takes to take over a country. Hitler did it with about 32%. (if my old memory recalls.)
I am a Boomer and I never bought into the hippie scene. I know a lot of people in my generation like myself who skipped that scene as well. As usual the media is self projecting and making generalizations. Much of the interest of blue collar folks are much more different than the college types. Most of the media are college grads and their take on things reflects that. Not surprising that about all this talk of socialism/communism.
Have you ever seen the “Communist Goals for America”, written by a KGB defector and read into the Congressional Record in 1980? Evidently, it was an effective plan.
