New evacuations were ordered for at least 50,000 people living in Sonoma County near a huge wildfire and millions of Californians will have their power cut again as the state's largest utility said it would cut power again for the third time in as many weeks because of looming strong winds and high fire danger....PG&E said it would begin blackouts in the afternoon for about 940,000 homes and businesses in 36 counties for 48 hours or longer throughout the San Francisco Bay area, wine country and Sierra foothills. The blackouts are expected to last until Monday

PG&E will be taken over by the Kali-fornia gov’t. after being sued out of existence.
This whole thing reminds me of Atlas Shrugged. The government puts so many restrictions on the company, then sues the company for following the rules. So the company says fine - any wind above xx mph we shut everything down so we don’t get sued again.
And then they will get sued when somebody using a candle for light and it starts a huge blaze. Then the government will take over the company and run it into the ground. Or PG&E goes Galt.
Haha...and then maybe they’ll experience 1950s/60s Poland...where in some places the Govt turned the heat off in, maybe May (cold in April )...and turned the heat on in November (cold in Oct)
You can almost hear Ayn Rand laughing from the other side.
My brother dropped 25K with Tesla last week on a battery for his system.
They had a ‘buy 2 get one free’ on their solar batteries.
He is angry about that.
That is what happened to Oregon (where I was raised in the good old days), and then it happened to most of Washington state, where I now live. The cancer has metastasized.
Why wouldnt PG&E just trim the trees from around their power lines vs shutting off the power to tens to hundreds of thousands of people?
They used to do this regularly. Now they are so far behind it would take a tremendous effort, and extreme cost.
Why not an Army of volunteers? Like the guy who cleaned up a trash lot in Los Angeles with volunteers?
Hale. I can bring a chainsaw and help with this effort.
How quickly can 10,000 people clear the trees, clear the brush?
Suspend any laws necessary to get this done.
Conservatives have an opportunity in CA. Just promise to keep the power on, drugs off the streets and crime low.
The problem in CA is terrain and climate. They have an enormous amount of service territory, so lots of distribution and transmission line exposure. And a lot of it is over very difficult to access routes, so the maintenance (tree trimming issue, etc.) is massive. The climate gives them an extended dry season that makes it perfect for wildfires. It would be impossible to eliminate that risk and offer rates that could be afforded. I suspect that the popular overreaction to this interruption issue will be to insist on maintenance to eliminate outages, and PG&E will make another trip through Chapter 11. Just glad I do not live there.
This joke will not stop until they turn out the electricity to the big cities, then it will get fixed in a hurry.
Power is on here.
Green Energy is a farce and a scam.
Calizuela.
Be nice to see pics of the Pelosi's house all lit up during the blackouts. Running their huge generators, contributing to global warming.
So in other words, “let it burn”.
LOL
.... These Forced Blackouts have now become the new Norm here in California ever since PG&E lost the 11 Billion Dollar lawsuit last year when they were determined to be the cause of the wildfires her last year.
the just extended the mandatory evacuation all the way to the coast! sounds like they expect the fire to jump the valley and burn all the way to the ocean
Better yet, why can't the state allow it to be profitable to have logging around the power lines, so that there can be a productive use of the wood, instead of just letting it burn up?

Make it profitable and the problem can take care of itself.
