The Florida Senate on Wednesday voted to permanently oust suspended Broward Sheriff Scott Israel over his officers' response to the mass shooting that killed 17 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018.
The GOP-controlled state Senate voted 25-15 in favor of Israels permanent removal.
I hope the outcome provides some measure of relief to the Parkland families that have been doggedly pursuing accountability, Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, said in a statement after the vote.

“The law favored Israel, the politics didnt.”
If that is indeed the case he should be able to sue and win easily.
His lawyers said they may file suit in federal court.
What the Senate did is similar to jury nullification.
You may disagree with the underlying justification but the statute indeed gives the Senate wide latitude to remove a Sheriff for just about anything or for that matter nothing.
Someone posted the statutes on an earlier thread and they are quite clear on this matter.

Like political reasons. Thanks for making my point.
“Like political reasons.”
Anything.
If you don’t mind me asking....Just about everyone on this forum despises Israel for any of a number of different reasons. And he may not have committed malfeasance to the degree requiring removal from office although several of his past behaviors have been suspect.
You, however seem to support him. Is that accurate?
Oh, and btw I hardly bolstered your point...”The law was on Israels side.”
The motivation for what the Senate did may very well have been political but the “law” clearly was not on Israel’s “side” The law was written clearly giving the Senate authority to do what they did so the law was their side ulterior motives notwithstanding

Yes you did, and you just did it again.
You’re either delusional or obtuse as I obviously did no such thing.
How would you know?
You don’t even know that you made my point.
