Theres a long-standing tradition at many high schools across the fruited plain when you become a senior you get to paint your parking spot.
This year that tradition is causing big problems, especially for teenage supporters of President Trump.
At Calhoun High School in Texas a teenage boy had decorated his parking spot with a painting of a John Deere tractor along with the words Trump 2020.
My son was called into the principals office and told to paint over the Trump 2020 on his spot, Krystal Stringham told ToddStarnes.com. He asked the principal why, and was told it was against school policy and that they had received an email from the district office.
The entire situation is unacceptable, Mrs. Stringham told ToddStarnes.com. What happened to freedom of speech or press?
She disputed any notion that the teachers were trying to sway the political viewpoints of the students.
The kids have formed their own opinion and have now been shown they cant express their opinion, Mrs. Stringham said.

“and was told it was against school policy”
If it specifically states “no political slogans”, OK, sure. But if not, FU.
In sure theres plenty of kids that painted pro-Obama or pro-LGBT signs
FU? How about Fah Q? :-)
Yeah that too XD
Insanity.
Administration confines political messaging to the teacher peeps, thank you very much, to the curriculum, assignments, the numerous student surveys, liberal weighted tests, etc.
Show me the policy in writing.
Some conservative kid should paint Warren 2020 in a parking spot to see if they receive the same treatment.
Keep America Great does not promote partisan politics, it is a national motto right along with In God we trust and E pluribus unum.
Show it or shut it..................
Sounds like a lawsuit is in order...................
He asked the principal why, and was told it was against school policy and that they had received an email from the district office.
Obviously this particular governmental/political subdivision has seceded from First Amendment. I didn’t realize that was possible.
“Some conservative kid should paint Warren 2020 in a parking spot to see if they receive the same treatment.”
If they say nothing after a week, paint LOSER before Warren’s name.
I WOULD HAVE TOLD MY SON TO TELL HIM TO GO PAINT IT HIMSELF.
If it specifically states no political slogans, OK, sure. But if not, FU.”
I see your point, and it is well taken. Even so, the First Amendment still applies to all levels of government, and they can’t censor speech based on content. Time, manner and place, ok. But not content. (Until you get to obscenity and so on....but that’s clearly not at stake here).
I never owned a car in high school......I had to walk.
Calhoun Co. votes red. Don’t know which way that principal votes.
I did own a car my last year, that I bought myself. Sure don’t recall being able to paint a parking space though.
Reserved parking for seniors? LOL! Uh, okay. My how times have changed.
