“Woohooo man we are going to be able to go nowhere super fast now! Keep it up Gavin. Bakersfield here I come.”

And about 60 miles of desert east of Bakersfield there sits Barstow where, inexplicably, I-40 ends, leaving a two lane nightmare highway (I know, I’ve driven it) to carry all the formerly I-40 traffic to link up with the CA expressway system at Bakersfield. Somehow, although the CA DemonShits and taxpayers could squander billions on a high speed railway that’s never had any track completed, they’ve never figured how to cover that last 50 or 60 miles of flat desert from Barstow to Bakersfield with a proper interstate connection.

Hope they’re not Tesla owners too. Can’t even drive away from this disaster.

"Hope they’re not Tesla owners too. Can’t even drive away from this disaster."

Then there's the little problem of the gas pumps at the gas stations that are powered by PG & E electricity.

Because the "people who matter" are going to L.A. - not Bakersfield. Or maybe they are just trying to discourage traffic from going near Edwards Air Force Base?

I used to drive that route all the time between San Francisco and Las Vegas. Annoying to have the freeway disappear, but usually not much traffic on the route - maybe not enough to justify a new Interstate segment between Tehachapi and Barstow. To me right now, finishing I-11 between Phoenix and Las Vegas seems more important than giving any Federal dollars to CA - they'll just have to cancel Newsom's Fantasy Train and do it on their own. :)

“Doesn’t that train also run on electricity?”

For a small fee, Algore will provide them with a writ of indulgence.

No problem.

When I was young, California was seen as a paradise. Yep. When the Ricardo’s and the Mertz’s gleefully piled into the car and headed West to the tune of “California Here I Come” it was if all Americans celebrated with them. How sad would the Ricardo’s and the Mertz’s and all of our grandparents be to see it now?

"Now, it is a human-made disaster."

More correctly, a fanatic leftist, Democrat Party
lunatic environmentalist caused disaster.

I heard from a buddy of mine who is still stuck in CA that CALPERS is the majority stock holder. That would be a truly ironic twist if true.

SCHADENFREUDE!

Do you have any clue of to cost, the lines in question are not last mile 120/240 local distribution lines. Who would shoulder the coast of such a build out?

With no PG&E, there is no California

California is now the equivalent of powerless Venezuela.

Maybe it’s time for PG&E to just Permanently Disconnect the transmission lines and sell them on ebay to the people that want to buy electricity from them

Big deal.

The executives will be handsomely rewarded for returning the company back to profitability...

The stock closed friday above $8. Of course that is down from about 50 this time last year.

They are under title 11 reorganization so they are not going out of business, however, that does not mean that the current stockholders will not see a huge dilusion in their holdings as new equity will probably be floated to offset any losses to the secured holders (unless Obama resurfaces and does a GM styled settlement).

But be happy if you are a stockholder because the company per this will continue with their green house gas removal program unabated: “We have a long track record of supporting California’s climate goals, and we remain
committed to our shared clean energy future.
• In addition to maintaining an over 85% GHG-free power portfolio, enabling solar
customers, investing in EV infrastructure, and promoting increased energy efficiency, we
are supporting state and local building decarbonization efforts.
• Our Plan keeps intact longstanding PPAs that support California clean energy economy.”

IMO, what will be a perfect generation of clean energy? Simple, generate no energy and one has a 100% clean energy generation model.

Apparently, CALPERS owns $100 million in PGE stock but, with a portfolio of more $215 billion they wont feel a PGE BK
