Beto: Strip Churches Of Tax Exemptions If Don’t Support Gay Marriage

Don Lemon asked Beto O’Rourke if he supports revoking the tax-exempt status for religious institutions such as churches, colleges, and charities if they don’t support gay marriage. His answer is yes. The in-studio audience applauded in approval.

“There can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break, for anyone or any institution, any organization in America that denies the full human rights and the full civil rights of every single one of us,” O’Rourke said. “And so, as president, we’re going to make that a priority, and we are going to stop those who are infringing upon the human rights of our fellow Americans.”

Got that? Robert Francis O’Rourke will punish churches for preaching religious doctrine by yanking tax exemptions. An O’Rourke administration would micro-manage your church from their perches in Washington, D.C. The next thing you know, Beto will be coming for a copy of your pastor’s sermon. Oh, wait. That has happened, not with Beto but during the administration of former Houston Mayor Annise Parker, the city’s first lesbian mayor. She tried to subpoena the sermons of local pastors who were opposed to the city’s HERO ordinance in 2014. It was an equal rights ordinance that included the hot button issue of transgender people in public bathrooms.

If they tuned in, many Independent voters and moderate Democrats were thinking these candidates have lost their minds.

As Chief Justice John Marshall explained in McCulloch v. Maryland (1819), the power to tax is the power to destroy, and if religious tax exemption is revoked, thousands of churches in the United States could be forced to disband.

Then the government wouldbe in direct violation of the first ammendment.. I hope this didn't surprise anyone here thinking the first ammendment only covered free speach.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Beto is clearly a fool and a staunch democrat trying to destroy our constitution. he should be artrested for treason and inciting sedititon

Telling the American people you are going to take away the rights from them if you're elected, is not a popular concept in America.

Beto O'Dork already wants to deprive Americans of their 2nd Amendment rights under the Constitution's Bill of Rights by confiscating their guns.

Now he wants to restrict their 1st Amendment rights but taking away their tax exempt status if they don't agree with 2% of the population's depravity.

Beto needs to go back to high school and run for sophomore president and get his "presidential" skills polished before stepping out on the national stage.

He ain't ready yet.

Any such law would be unconstitutional.

State can’t dictate religious dogma to the houses of worship.

Everything they do is in retaliation for some previous wrong.

Whats his position on removal of ALL tax exemptions. PERIOD.

Your organization WILL register with the State.
Your organization WILL pay taxes to the State.

Come on Beto. Render unto Caesar!

The truth has always been that the Left has sought to force society to relinquish the Judeo-Christian moral system and to destroy the nuclear family. Families are more difficult for tyrants to control.

What about Polygamy?

Or Polyandry?

Or marrying your emotional support miniature pony so you can get the married tax rates and husband & wife travel discounts?

/S

(actually, wait until the ACLU takes these to the SUpreme Court!)

Beta O’Dourke has no shot at the nomination so he is left saying outrageous things in hopes for a hopeful VP pick.

The First Amendment prevents Congress from making any law respecting an establishment of religion, prohibiting the free exercise of religion, or abridging the freedom of speech.
*************
The ability to tax is the ability to limit or control.

Once the donkey (ACLU etc.) got his nose under the edge of the tent (the threat of loss of a church’s tax-exempt status under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code), things started to change.

Under current tax law churches may not speak out on the moral qualifications of a political candidate.

Now they want to ban moral speech, and would remove a church’s tax-exemption for actually quoting the Bible on morality?

Well, the bright side is, we won’t have to cross an ocean this time to kick their asses, like my old man and uncles did.
