Don Lemon asked Beto ORourke if he supports revoking the tax-exempt status for religious institutions such as churches, colleges, and charities if they dont support gay marriage. His answer is yes. The in-studio audience applauded in approval.
There can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break, for anyone or any institution, any organization in America that denies the full human rights and the full civil rights of every single one of us, ORourke said. And so, as president, were going to make that a priority, and we are going to stop those who are infringing upon the human rights of our fellow Americans.
Got that? Robert Francis ORourke will punish churches for preaching religious doctrine by yanking tax exemptions. An ORourke administration would micro-manage your church from their perches in Washington, D.C. The next thing you know, Beto will be coming for a copy of your pastors sermon. Oh, wait. That has happened, not with Beto but during the administration of former Houston Mayor Annise Parker, the citys first lesbian mayor. She tried to subpoena the sermons of local pastors who were opposed to the citys HERO ordinance in 2014. It was an equal rights ordinance that included the hot button issue of transgender people in public bathrooms.
If they tuned in, many Independent voters and moderate Democrats were thinking these candidates have lost their minds.
As Chief Justice John Marshall explained in McCulloch v. Maryland (1819), the power to tax is the power to destroy, and if religious tax exemption is revoked, thousands of churches in the United States could be forced to disband.

Strip Beto of his citizenship and clothing and drop him off in the middle of the Congo
The guy’s a commie
Beto: Your core beliefs are mine to agree with or persecute you for.
It is really to bad that you’d have to overturn the Constitution tondo this.
(Sarc)
He's evidently been reading, and longing for the 'good ole days'.
So.much for tolerance.
I recall during the debate over homosexual marriage, we were assured by the liberal side that religious organizations , churches, any entity associated with religion, would not he compelled to allow homosexual marriage. We were told that they wanted homosexual marriage in our civil laws, not in religious doctrine.
And liberals often tell us how they believe in tolerance .
So much for that.
Strip them of tax exemptions for harboring undocumenteds or hampering ICE. Or ‘community organizing’.
Two can play at that game.
So, not supporting same-sex marriage is akin to stripping the LGBTXYZ crowd of their civil rights???
And Beto was a Congressman???
What a doofus!
He’s got this backwards.
The church in this nation has done a massive amount of good and helped so many in so many ways. Just like the good commie that he is, he wants everybody to look to the government for help, not to churches. This is 100% about commie control. . . Beto is evil to the bone.
I thought for a long time he was just a self-righteous creep looking for a vote. It is clear now that he is an aspiring tyrant trying to stack the deck for Commie control . . . yes, he is evil.
Strip Leftist foundations of their tax exemptions if they don’t support the second amendment.
There you go, Mr. Beto
When you accept government funding even in the guise of “tax exemption” you begin to bow your neck to government control.
Islam exempt.
Then, acceptance and mandatory promotion of transgender and pedophile lifestyles by the Church.
Hey Butto.
You poll at 0.0000000% for the primary.
This sort of shit is why. Let me guess, “HELL YEAH we’re gonna bulldoze your church.”
Mosques, too?
Church of the immaculate buggeri?
If one strips a church of tax exempt status then that church is also freed from any restrictions on political advocacy and activity. Churches explicitly backing certain candidates? Sounds OK to me.
