The only option seems to be a BAllot Initiative Abolishing ALL Taxes on Motor Fuels in the State.

Is that allowed BY LAW?

There was an initiative in the last election to rescind the gas tax increase. The airwaves were inundated with ads about how his initiative would endanger public safety by taking away the money needed to repair bridges and roads, etc., and they managed to convince the public to defeat the initiative. What they failed to admit was that the only reason they needed to increase the gas tax in the first place was because they had raided the funds provided by the existing gas tax and transferred them to the general fund to pay for their other pet projects.

Even though they pass the tax increases based on promises to uses them to maintain the roads, I don't think the law restricts what they can spend the money on.

As long as the statute describing the gas tax indicates it’s for the roads and doesn’t have wishy washy language, it’d be easy to defeat this in court.

In California it makes little difference. The Democrats have a supermajority and they basically all share the same hard left politics.

And the GOP here does nothing to oppose them anyway. The Republican Establishment’s idea of fighting back is to run Obama Lite Bush Republicans. Go look at Neel Kashkari’s political positions some time, and see if you can tell the difference between him and Obama. Other than that Kashkari is Hindu.

I don’t believe this is true. They didn’t change anyone’s mind. It passed because the voters are stupid and didn’t read it. The proposition was written backwards. On the repeal question a yes vote kept it and a no vote was a repeal. They tricked voters who don’t read the propositions. If the proposition had been written as a straight up yes or no vote the gas tax would’ve been repealed.

Gasoline prices in California are sky high because of all of the taxes and greenhouse taxes. Most of the people in California are stupid and they blame the oil companies. It is the middle class and low income working people who bear the brunt with the long commutes at 15 miles per hour and high gasoline taxes, but Newsom is for the little guy.

Sheana they do this to voters ALL the time in Ca. I have to read these stinking proportions through and through BECAUSE they word it so NO means yes and YES means no!!! The AVERAGE voter pays no attention and THINK that voting no MEANS NO!!! It is a shame that voters are not more educated about what they are voting for HOWEVER that is just asking to much I guess!!{

Good luck finding a judge who will put a temporary halt to this and allowing the court to hear the full case.

That is not the fault of “spell check”
It is caused by “auto correct”
They are two different things
and they can be turned off/on on your device, independently.
Why don’t you fix it instead of cursing it?
