Don't assume the Senate would *never* remove Donald Trump
CNN ^ | Oct. 1, 2019 | Chris Cillizza

With the House now headed down a path that virtually guarantees President Donald Trump will be impeached, conventional wisdom has settled on the idea that the Republican-led Senate will never, ever remove him from office.

Which, I get! If you were a betting person -- which I am not! -- the strong likelihood is that the Senate acquits Trump. Because, well, math. There are 53 Republicans in the chamber currently and 47 Democrats and independents who caucus with Democrats. In order to remove Trump from office, 67 senators would have to vote to do so -- meaning you would need every Democrat and a 20-person Republican revolt.

Which is not likely!

If 20 GOP senators vote to remove, then they better start looking for other jobs after their next scheduled election contest.

If 20 GOP senators vote to remove, the Republican Party will never again elect a president. Why elect someone from the Traitor Party?

1) I don’t see Trump buckling on immigration
2) He might waffle on gun control if he listens to Jarvanka enough. I pray that he does not.
3) I have no access to classified information, so I have no way of knowing if PDJT did anything worthy of removal.

I don’t know how many Senators are loyal to President Trump, so for now I’m going to reserve judgment on how many would vote to convict if it came to that. I will say, however, that Mitch McConnell is acting like a man about to throw the President under the bus. He figures he got tax cuts passed and Kavanaugh appointed and doesn’t think Trump will do anything more for him. I don’t know whether he would succeed or not but I would bet money that McConnell at least tries to persuade the Republican senators to convict.

Wake me up on this when they find a crime. Otherwise any impeachment talk is just another Dem TDS fantasy.

They most certainly can, and will find a crime.

Sol Wachtler, the later disgraced chief judge of New York State. ... District attorneys had so much power, Wachtler argued, that “by and large” they could get grand juries to “indict a ham sandwich". Why should anyone think congress has less power than a district attorney?

It will be b.s.. but they will find a crime, will impeach and will remove Donald Trump.

This nation can survive an impeachment. Trump isn’t a politician and doesn’t GAD about political future. But it won’t survive a senate conviction and removal. That will literally bring hell on earth...

“”The house isn’t ever going to vote for impeachment,””

You’re dreaming - they would work overtime to vote for it. They might even give up some recess time. Nothing will stop them!

Where are the articles of impeachment?

Nancy said “Impeachment Inquiry” no such thing as an impeachment inquiry, Nancy is playing with words, to make it sound like impeachment to keep the crazies happy and hopefully start mailing in donation checks etc. The Dems are pissed that President Trump and the RNC are out fundraising them at insane margins. They are peeved, so they need an impeachment inquiry. If she meant impeachment, she would have said Articles of Impeachment, that is the legal constitutional standard, everything else is pure BS at this point. Don’t let the ‘Rats fool you.

It is not a matter of faith, just common sense. I am willing to put my money where my mouth is. If you are so sure that Trump is going to be convicted, why not pick up an easy $500. Or we could even raise the amount to make it more attractive for you.

would also be scorned in public...they might move to the top of the domestic enemies list when cw II breaks out."

Going along with the corrupt democrats would be the ultimate act of betraya of this nation. I would not think they would want to be declared public enemy number one of 62 million people.

That said, I do not trust them. Call their offices. Put them on notice.

President Trump is a brave man.

He had a perfect life....ran for POTUS not for power but for love of country.

May God bless and protect this special man - and his family.

Time will tell, but given the flimsy crap now, McConnell will not try to dump Trump. As to having the trial, I think the Dems believed McConnell when he said there might not be a trial, and they planned to use that against Trump and other Republicans. The Dems have a lot more to lose with a trial, and they just outsmarted themselves on it.

As to loyalty of other Senators, there’s very little, but that would only matter if the ballot were secret, and it’s not.

Given that at worst for these deep State Rep Senators Trump can only remaininoffice another 5 yrs, why would they take the verysolid chance of being voted OUT of office for voting for impeachment? All they need to do is sit tight for another 5 yrs and when Trumps second term is over resume their sordid business?

a Constitutional misdemeanor can be eating a ham sandwich backward or anything they care to make up; not a real crime, just one that they make up - after all its the seriousness of the charge that counts, guilt is assumed. Power and destruction of the Nation is the goal.

“”Where are the articles of impeachment?””

They will draw them up and they will vote on them. You’re kidding yourself to think they’re not prepared to go the whole nine yards.

Every single day since this guy was elected the ‘rats have been crying “impeachment” Two Scoops of ice cream, impeachment. Russia Russia Russia, Impeachment, Obstruction, Impeachment, Muslim Ban Impeachment, Someone stayed at a Trump Hotel, Impeachment

They cry impeachment every single day and we are suppose to believe these liars? I will believe it when I see it.

Right now all I see is another ‘rat distraction trying to slow down the progress of a successful president and fund raise off it so the base can take focus of the lousy 2020 cant-idates

Impeachment inquiry, my arse, just another ‘rat fishing expedition

When you find a case where someone has been removed due to ham sandwiches or eating salad with the wrong fork or whatever, get back to me.
This has been, and remains, just Dem boys in a circle self-pleasuring themselves - nothing more. There’s a reason why Dems are saying it’s “well - almost, kinda impeachy-like if you squint your eyes and look at this way”. It keeps the craziest corners of their party happy, but is totally meaningless in the real world.

Real world and DC are polar extremes ... in one there are facts, figures, laws and morality among other qualities, in the other fantasy rules and anything goes which the Media can promote including eating ham sandwiched the wrong way.

Point is reality and the Democrat party do not meet so they can do anything they want with whatever they want, so long as absolute power is achieved - even if that victory is pyrrhic.

Republican elected officials depend on the 10-15% conservative informed base. When we sit out they always lose.
