1) I don’t see Trump buckling on immigration
2) He might waffle on gun control if he listens to Jarvanka enough. I pray that he does not.
3) I have no access to classified information, so I have no way of knowing if PDJT did anything worthy of removal.
I don’t know how many Senators are loyal to President Trump, so for now I’m going to reserve judgment on how many would vote to convict if it came to that. I will say, however, that Mitch McConnell is acting like a man about to throw the President under the bus. He figures he got tax cuts passed and Kavanaugh appointed and doesn’t think Trump will do anything more for him. I don’t know whether he would succeed or not but I would bet money that McConnell at least tries to persuade the Republican senators to convict.
Time will tell, but given the flimsy crap now, McConnell will not try to dump Trump. As to having the trial, I think the Dems believed McConnell when he said there might not be a trial, and they planned to use that against Trump and other Republicans. The Dems have a lot more to lose with a trial, and they just outsmarted themselves on it.
As to loyalty of other Senators, there’s very little, but that would only matter if the ballot were secret, and it’s not.
