I listened to NPR last Tues after the story came out but before the first hearing (which I think was Thurs). They said that the reason Biden asked for the prosecutor to be fired (they didn't mention that he bragged about it) was because he believed the prosecutor was not investigating enough (the James Risen take). The ridiculousness is made all the more poignant by the idea that Biden wanted a tougher investigator who would investigate his son.
In Biden's bragging session he says "they replaced him with someone solid" when in fact the exact opposite is true. Truly other wordly.
