Trump grew weary of Bolton’s push for military force against Venezuela

President Donald Trump ousted John Bolton in part due to frustration with his third national security adviser’s guidance to pair military power with economic pressure against Venezuela, according to current and former administration officials.

One senior administration official said that Trump had grown weary of repeated vows from Bolton that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro would be out of office in short order. A second official said that they had clashed over Bolton’s efforts to advance planning for military intervention.

That official pointed to the administration’s national security strategy, which predated Bolton’s tenure and called for “strong diplomatic engagement” to isolate rogue nations in the Western Hemisphere. “That has been and remains the policy,” the official told McClatchy, although officials across the administration insist that all options are on the table.

Bolton left the White House on Tuesday over several bitter disputes with the president and Cabinet members.

“I disagreed with John Bolton on his attitudes on Venezuela – I thought he was way out of line,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

They need their “rock bottom” and need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

It's easier said than done when you have rigged elections and no firearms.

And, I never said suggested starting a war there. But, it's brain dead and heartless not to have compassion for those that have opposed socialism from the onset in Venezuela. It's as ridiculous as blaming an Angel Mom for the death of their children despite the fact she never voted for Obama or Democrat.

Concur. Squash those nazis, fascists, and commies like cockroaches

Let's do what Bill Clinton and ignore national security threats until we end up with the greatest loss of life on American soil in US history. Brilliant.

And, we don't have to start a war to do what Reagan did and assist people inflicted by a totalitarian government.

it is NOT the responsibility of the U.S. to alleviate suffering in the world

Of course, it is the responsibility of any nation with an ounce of morality to oppose left-wing and Islamic radicalism.

That doesn't mean starting a war but providing support for those fighting for freedom. That is what Trump is trying to do.

You, on the other hand, are a soulless isolationist, which a moronic position to take because ignoring the evils of Islamic terrorists or left-wing tyranny will ultimate result in a threat to the nation.

Bolton needs reminding that our military is not a box of toy soldiers to be taken out and used on a whim.

Blocked from importation by the Obama State Dept. So far Trump hasn’t reversed the blockage.

Just a dumb statement given that elections have been rigged there for multiple election cycles and the people have no access to firearms.

They voted it in and then lost access to their firearms, followed by the voter fraud once "their" people were in charge. Anyone who thought it was going to be different is a fool.

Any conservative should be behind people seeking freedom from left-wing oppression.

Be behind them, root for their success? Sure.

Do the fighting for them.....I don't think so.

We were supposed to be fighting terrorists, which then lead to 20 years of nation building and trying to bring democracy and freedom to those who don't understand it. I'm now permanently injured with shrapnel in my lung and lost more than three dozen of my friends.

But, you want to invade Venezuela, which posed no direct threat to us, in order to bring people freedom, who willingly voted it away, on another half-hearted attempt to export the American revolution.

Tell me, what do you sacrifice in this equation?

How much of your skin and blood are you planning to put up?

Are you willing to to go to Caracas and kick doors? Do you have what it takes to look through the sights of an M-4 at another person and shoot them in the face, particularly when they might be bunkered in that house with a PKM? Door after door, house after house?

Or, do you just plan to impugn everyone else's conservative credentials and expect them to execute this on your behalf?

I think Bolton, who was a good guy under Reagan, went over the top with things like GWBush unjustly invading Iraq - something Bolton also apparently drove for.

Despite Bush’s and apparently Bolton’s confusion, America is not about militarily invading countries it doesn’t like. That is wrong and ignores national sovereignty of other nations. That mentality actually plays right into the hands of the Left who hate national sovereignty because they want Worldwide Totalitarian Government.

America and other nations certainly have the right to defend themselves against imminent aggression and threats of other nations and we should do what we can to wisely and justly help citizen freedom fighters in their own oppressive, dictatorial nations. But we have no business militarily invading other nations because we don’t like the nation or we think its a good idea.

Is the Venezuelan government any more repressive than the rulers Saudi Arabia?

Why is it so necessary for us to meddle in Venezuela to overthrow the government on behalf of “freedom”, when we treat the Saudi rulers like allies and sell weapons to them? Total hypocrisy. We need to take care of Americans and our own considerable problems, and leave Venezuela to take care of irself

Millions there did not for Chavez or Maduro.

That comment is as stupid as blaming an Angel mom that believes in securing the borders for Obama being elected and letting in an illegal that killed child.

Not everyone there is a socialist. Get it?

Nothing and neither does any other American if we find a way to get arms in the hands of opposition to Maduro there.

Apparently, you missed the part about me saying I didn't support going to war in Venezuela.

Hyperbole much? Apples to oranges. By your logic an Angel mom upset 0 got elected means another country should arm the populace to "liberate" us, because not everyone voted democrat.

Not everyone there is a socialist. Get it?

Not our monkeys, not our circus. The majority of the political parties in Venezuela are one shade of socialism or another. Just because "not everyone is a socialist" still doesn't warrant our involvement.

You would think after Cuba, Vietnam, Syria, Libya, China, etc people would learn maybe we shouldn't arm insurgencies, nor are we the world's policemen.......

From his first election in 1998 Hugo Chavez, a radical populist and former paratroop who led a failed coup attempt six years ago, was elected president today in a landslide.

In 2002, the opposition tried to oust him, via coup. -Which the U.S./CIA was blamed. He was reinstated by the military within 48hrs.

Lastly, earlier this year opposition 'leader' Juan Guiado tried to take power - he didn't have the support to pull it off. BTW - Guiado's political party? The Popular Will, which is a member of the Socialist International.

So tell me again how they're not all socialists.......

It's one socialist fighting another down there. Again - why do our tax dollars need to be involved? And when that doesn't work, the inevitable boots on the ground.
