President Donald Trump ousted John Bolton in part due to frustration with his third national security advisers guidance to pair military power with economic pressure against Venezuela, according to current and former administration officials.
One senior administration official said that Trump had grown weary of repeated vows from Bolton that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro would be out of office in short order. A second official said that they had clashed over Boltons efforts to advance planning for military intervention.
That official pointed to the administrations national security strategy, which predated Boltons tenure and called for strong diplomatic engagement to isolate rogue nations in the Western Hemisphere. That has been and remains the policy, the official told McClatchy, although officials across the administration insist that all options are on the table.
Bolton left the White House on Tuesday over several bitter disputes with the president and Cabinet members.
I disagreed with John Bolton on his attitudes on Venezuela I thought he was way out of line, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

Venezuela voted themselves into this mess.
Maybe provide them with the tools, but they need to fix their problem by themselves.
Ceausescu’s fate should provide a solid goal for them.
Arm the people of Venezuela and let them sort it out.
How about military force against Sean Penn? That mofo more than anybody other than Chavez is responsible for those Venezuelans living in hell today.
Isn’t it Sanders’zuela now?
100% against military action, not our job to fix.
“John, if I hear one more word from you today about invading Venezuela, you’re outta here. I’m serious! One more ***ng word!......
“But Mr. President, Maduro will NEVER..”
Okay, Johnny!! That’s it..You’re Fired! I’ve had enough!
Kellyanne, would someone please escort Mr. Bolton to his vehicle in the parking garage? Thank you.”
They made their bed.
T don’t belteve NONE of it.
Boltom was the ‘bad cop’,nufff said.
I knew Bolton was on his way out when several week ago President Trump quipped, paraphrasing, that Bolton never saw a country that he didn’t want to attack.
He said this during one of his impromptu pressers and it was not commented upon much at all at the time but, for me, I noticed this immediately and thought to myself this guy is not going to survive for much longer.
Bolton is the male Janet Reno.
Zero interest in spilling American blood in a nation that voted itself into socialism.
Free weapons and training to help them break their own chains? Yes. Direct military intervention? No and hell no.
I’ve always liked Bolton for his forthrightness even when I didn’t agree with his ideas, and I can see the wisdom in having smart people who hold different views as advisors. But if they constantly harp on things that have already been decided, that just gets annoying and wears you down, and I figured that’s what happened with Bolton and Trump. From this piece, it sounds like that was the case. You want people who can challenge you and push back and who will offer alternatives and fight like hell for their ideas, but after it has been decided you need them to put their ideas aside and get behind you 110%. Apparently Bolton could not do that.
Eternal war - Forever and Ever!
PDJT: YOU’RE FIRED!
I never liked Bolton - no big loss
President Trump is right. Not one drop of American blood nor treasure should be spent against a nation unless it is a direct threat to our nation. Venezuela was and is no threat.
Trump: John Bolton was holding me back! on Cuba, Venezuela September 12, 2019President Trump on Thursday pushed back on the idea that former national security adviser John Bolton was too much of a hawk asserting that it was Bolton who was constraining him.
In fact, my views on Venezuela, and especially Cuba, were far stronger than those of John Bolton. He was holding me back! the commander-in-chief tweeted.
Wait, what? Bolton wanted to use military force against Venezuela? How in the world is Venezuela a threat to the United States? Did Colin Powell find WMDs in a Caracas basement?
Thank goodness this Bolton guy is gone.
A military invasion of any country in this century which cannot make it’s own toilet paper should be dismissed as unnecessary.
