A startling number of young women are unable to find a spouse, and new research from a group of economists suggests their would-be partners are just not up to snuff.

California?
Won’t be able to make it this year.
Thank you.
Mmmm, nah.
I would suggest people should consider first that media needs a constant supply of content; the more controversial, the better. Second, from an evolutionary perspective, the bald ape is among certain species which form pair bonds - our history traces back millions of years, not just the 200k to sapiens sapiens.
What this means is that we are instinctively driven to find mates - for both mental and physical reasons. If you doubt this, consider the poor mental/physical health characteristics of lonely, single men & women. This drive is so strong that regardless of all the hype about 'independent women', one simply has to look around at any teen/20-something social gathering/grouping to see presentation & bonding in action. To be honest, it's pretty obvious there is some driving desperation to lock up what others might consider a 'good catch'.
Historically, approx 40% of men and 20% of women didn't marry/have kids. They were what was once referred to as a 'confirmed bachelors' or 'spinsters'. As such, they were objects of pity, to feel sorry for as they missed their chance at forming a pair bond. We can gather that these numbers might still be generally true, the only difference is that media has to fill a vacuum by exploiting every possible niche for advertising revenues. These articles make for good fodder, but watch how real people act in real life situations. The bears & the bees and all that.
Well, thats usually when one of the really good ones finds you so dont be too dogmatic or militant about it.
Just sayin

Accomplishments in this life, that don’t produce life, are extremely temporal in the big picture.
God blessed me with a sweet gorgeous woman when I was determined to stay single. She was just too awesome to pass up. 41 yrs of marriage and she’s still a doll! Still a superlative cook! Still slim and trim! And loves being a mother and grandmother! (And I think she still loves being a wife, lol)
When I had just gotten my drivers license, my mother (RIP) talked to me in private. With her lazer locked look at me, I could tell this was serious. She said, “a girl will try to get you to do things you shouldn’t do. Or you could could do things that are not respectful to a girl. Do you you understand?”
I knew exactly what she meant, and said “yes, Mom”. I knew my parents marriage was not good by that time. And that little talk stayed seared in my head as if I had been branded.
A late bloomer, by the time I turned 19, I had no trouble attracting very attractive young women. The trouble was I would draw the line (which was sometimes almost at the point of no return), and cause them to stop seeing me and move to more willing men. At 24, I met my lovely 20 yr old virgin. We got married and learned the real deal together. The best is worth the wait.
I would post pics on my home page, but I haven’t bothered to learn how. I’m very pleased with the family that God has blessed me with!
Women (and some men) are boasting of being “child-free” as they cross 40 and despise children and families. Breeders who are “killing the planet”.
this rhetoric is in this year’s Democrat primary already.
It is anti-social and it is in the mainstream.
Father of Lies is taking over. The apple tree scenario at work.
Never am.
There will always be exceptions. But the "demographic" is exactly as I describe.
There was a recent thread on FR about young men eschewing marriage for that very reason.
Ooh, that sounds hot...
They have no goals, no discipline, no drive or no ambition. They are immature for their age. They think they are God's gift to women, when they'd be better suited to go back home and live with their mamas.
She's told me that men like me do not exist in her generation. I am responsible, reliable, honest and generous to a fault.
She is 45 and I am 72. Go figure....
Perhaps there is hope for me yet.
It seems you have imbibed too much of ‘The Handmaiden’s Tale’.
I could pour gasoline on that flame by suggesting high spiked heels, but I won’t.
That was as tasteless and rude a post as I can imagine.
Laugh a little, don’t be so uptight. And I’ve never ever have watch that sick series. And what’s with your high spiked heel fetish?
