Tuesday on ABC’s “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg criticized actress Debra Messing for calling for a public list of attendees for a fundraiser next month fundraiser in Beverly Hills to support President Donald Trump.
Likening Messing call to McCarthy era Hollywood blacklists, Goldberg said, “The last time people did this, people ended up killing themselves. This is not a good idea, OK? Your idea of who you don’t want to work with is your personal business. Do not encourage people to print out lists because the next list that comes out, your name will be on, and then people will be coming after you! We had something called a blacklist, and a lot of really good people were accused of stuff. Nobody cared whether it was true or not. They were accused. And they lost their right to work.”

But what if it is true? What if they are conservatives? Shouldn’t their lives be destroyed?
Finally, something I agree with her on.
Although, perhaps, she is just smart enough to realize how making a precedent of that can backfire.
Lists can work both ways, as can doxxing.

My ten year old grandson has bigger boobs than Debra Messing. Maybe that’s partly why she’s so angry all the time.
Dear Whoopie: Thanks for what you said, but I hope you understand your friends in Hollywood are true LEFTIST FASCISTS. They would like to mass murder every Trump supporter, they’re that crazy and hateful.
Whoopie explained the problem with ‘lists’ very well.
Too bad she chose to say nothing when Julian Castro did something similar, but she’s speaking now.
Perhaps even some Libs are not liking the intolerance of this Progressive group. First The Squad, now The Lists?

I’m surprised at Whoopi Goldberg’s wisdom in saying this. But I appreciate it.
When Whoopi is the voice of reason, you know that’s a sign of the end times.
One other thing I agree with Whoopi is she said (many years ago so she probably hopes it was forgotten) about slavery and blacks whining about it was that she’s been to Africa and was thankful her ancestors were brought to America.

Well...recently I got “listed” by name on a local progressive blogsite...because I give $ to Trump...I have Trump sticker on my car...so..it’s not like it’s a secret...BUT...it does give somewhat uncomfortable feeling with the crazies out there. Whoopi realizes two can play this game...however our side is not the crazy/vindictive/hypocritical type like the leftists

It’s not as though 85ish% of McArthy’s listed communists were in fact communists, actively working against the United States.
It’s not as though the release of the “Venona” documents validated a similar number of active Soviet spies in government.
