Walsh, who supported Trump in 2016, rode the wave of the tea party movement in 2010 to win a seat in the House by 290 votes over Democratic incumbent Melissa Bean. Walsh was soundly defeated for reelection by Tammy Duckworth by nearly 10 percentage points in 2012, leading to his radio career.
For the 57-year-old Walsh, his candidacy for president becomes the latest act in a public life that is in many ways befitting for a former student at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute.
His provocative rhetoric has given him an outsized national platform on cable news outlets despite his cup-of-coffee tenure in the House once as a fierce critic of President Barack Obama, then as a staunch supporter of Trumps election.
But a review of Walshs career his three losing bids for elective office against one win as well as a failed attempt to become Illinois Republican chairman shows he is not so unlike the president, with a history of flip-flopping on a variety of issues over the years while using inflammatory language to gain attention.
Few Republicans, regardless of their feelings toward Trump, give Walsh a chance to defeat the president or even being able to put together the massive infrastructure needed to raise funds and get on primary and caucus ballots in the 50 states.
Matt Mackowiak, a nationally known Republican consultant called Walsh a legend in his own mind.
He served in Congress for one term. His radio show is failing. He was a Trump-supporting tea party member as recently as two years ago. Hes had significant personal, professional and financial problems, Mackowiak said.
Walsh has had several financial problems over the years, including now-resolved liens and a condo foreclosure as well as a controversy over child support.

Yeah, this guy is probably funded by Dems to break apart the Republican votes.
Has a phone booth been set aside for his supporters?
That much losing tells me there is something about his personality and presentation that people don’t like. They just don’t tell him, but they all sense it.
I wonder who is paying him to run. Soros? CF? CGI? Probably all three. Those 40 pieces of silver will destroy you, Walsh.
Joe Walsh is a joke here in Illinois. Anyone who spent 15 minutes listening to his radio show knows what a pathetic POS he is. It'll be two weeks or less before he self destructs via one of his rants. The guy can't help himself.

Stopped reading there. Pathetic leftist idiot.
I’ll take your word for it (on the ground there); I know nothing about him, and expect the media to sing his praises (as it did for McCain) as a foil for the left.
He doesn’t pay his child support!
Joe Walsh: Just your average, regular deadbeat dad kind of a guy
Life’s been good to him so far...
Apparently not satisfied with all the democratic losers on their side for the presidential race the Dems feel compelled to add 1 on the Repub side.
Instead of DC, he should be headed out to the Rocky Mountain way.

I think you left a ‘B’ out...
He is still on WIND-AM 560 in Chicago. I am going to email the station letting them know I will never listen to another minute on WIND as long as Walsh still has his show on the air.
I bet the media is paying for him to run. The MSM needs to create news and this guy will read from the script.
EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT DEAD BEAT JOE WALSH!!

He looks like Epstein.
One of his on-the-air colleagues, Dan Proft (who called Walsh a “crank” in an earlier tweet) last night tweeted this response from Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh:
“Whatever.”
Whoever is putting Walsh up to this (Soros, Kristol, et.al.) must be pretty desperate to have a candidate. I mean, if I wanted a candidate to challenge Trump, Walsh would be at the very bottom of my list, if he made the list at all. Outside of his being a distasteful character, he has accomplished absolutely nothing in life that would recommend him for the presidency. Maybe the Never-Trumpers couldn’t find anyone else to do it and settled on someone who would, if only as a publicity stunt to feather his nest and revive a flagging career.
