Look at the bright side! Sure, a recession could throw millions of Americans out of work, and shrink retirement portfolios. But an economic downturn would also hurt President Trump in 2020!
That was CNN's theme this morning. The 6 am New Day hour led with co-host John Berman trumpeting yesterday's stock market drop. CNN economic analyst Rana Foroohar then said of a recession: "it's here."

I did not expect any real action to crash the economy until spring, but I suppose now is as good as any to begin the process of relentlessly talking down the economy 24/7 until it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy

CNN is invested in the steady decline of the American economy. In effect, they have placed a short bet on America’s decline and shorted the US economy.
Investors who go all in on a short position on an investment lose everything when that investment succeeds
President Trump is setting America up for success and CNN, along with the rest of the American elite who have similarly short positions on America’s future, stand to lose everything if he President Trump succeeds
Understand that, and all the insane stuff you see happening makes perfect sense
