Last week, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) campaign chair for his twin brother, 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Julián Castro tweeted the names and employers of the top Trump donors in San Antonio, Texas. He even singled out the owner of Bill Miller Bar-B-Q, a popular restaurant chain. While Castro clearly intended harm to those he doxxed, the barbecue chain experienced an impressive outpouring of support.
Castro's tweet condemned the barbecue chain's owner for "fueling a campaign of hate that labels Hispanic immigrants as 'invaders.'"
At least one of the women on the list received threatening voicemails laced with profanity.
However, it seems the doxxing campaign backfired in more than one way.
"The day after Castro published that hateful screed, thousands of Texans piled into their pickup trucks and drove to the nearest Bill Miller Bar-B-Q," Fox News' Todd Starnes reported. "Social media reports flooded in showing massive drive-thru lines backing up onto busy streets. Hungry customers patiently waited in lines out the door."
Indeed, many Twitter users reported long lines at Bill Miller Bar-B-Q locations.
"There was a line out the door all day at Bill Millers BBQ. Nothing like free advertising," one user tweeted.
Bobbi Kirk tweeted that Castro's attack "has resulted in some unintended consequences." At Bill Miller Bar-B-Q, "the lines were out the door, and the drive up lanes were several times longer than usual. So, thank you Joaquin, we show you don't matter."
"Cars were lined up around the block at one of the San Antonio Texas locations! Loved The Bill Miller Breakfast Special. I even purchased breakfast ... for my coworkers!" Tamie J. MacDonald tweeted, adding the hashtags "MAGA" and "Trump 2020."

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) also visited one of the chain's locations right after the Castro doxxing.
Starnes and others compared this response to the way conservatives responded to attacks on Chick-fil-A back in 2012. After liberals attacked the popular fast-food joint for funding socially conservative organizations that advocate for marriage as between one man and one woman, conservatives rallied around Chick-fil-A. The resulting "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day" set a sales record, and Chick-fil-A was America's fastest-growing restaurant chain in 2018. It took third place for sales last year, behind only McDonald's and Starbucks.
Could Castro's doxxing attack do to Bill Miller Bar-B-Q what the liberal attacks did for Chick-fil-A? That's unlikely, because Chick-fil-A's success seems independent of the politics. But it is likely Castro's tweet gave Bill Miller Bar-B-Q a day or two of record sales, and free publicity.

Did they not learn from the Chick-Fil-A debacle?
Doxing only works when you are in the majority and the person you are doxing is in the minority.
Big thanks to jackquie castro for the bump in business.
And if food is bad.
The Chick-fil-A effect strikes again!
Two radical communist Castro brothers. What could possibly go wrong with that?
I consider this answered prayer!!!! I PRAY for evil to implode upon itself and show those who are doing evil to see righteousness of Jesus is what really works!
They don’t realize that all this does is strengthen good and let good be seen as the victory side!
AMEN!!!!
How could we possibly have a president castro in the usa.
Their mother never married and neither did her mother. Castro is the matriarchal line. Big LaRaza lady activist
Nice to know. We don’t need a president named Castro.
mmm....Bill Miller breakfast tacos...miss them in Oklahoma...
Commie bastards. Literally.
Love Bill Miller fried chicken - best around. BBQ also outstanding.
They are La Raza disciples with no care for the U S Constitution. They believe this country was stolen from Mexico. La Raza and its associates will do whatever it takes to destroy America.
Used to go in for the burgers, but they had a pecan pie, whole, for less than a buck, was the best. This was in 1971, the one on WW White road, near the I 10 crossing.
This doxxing BS should be illegal.
The law can not stop it.
Maimed Doxers is the solution. Hospitalization for ever will be a powerful message.
Please boycott me!
I had only a limited awareness of the Castro brothers prior to this debacle.
Today, they have rocketed to the top of the Latino racist, Mexican supremacist movement.
Interesting how white Latinos don’t seem to go this route. Certainly, the many Cuban friends from my boyhood in Miami were fine people — and either of pure Spanish blood or so lightly mixed as not to matter.
It’s mistake to lump all Latinos together. But the more white ancestry, the better they are, and the more chance they have of becoming assimilated Americans.
The Castro brothers look like almost pure Indians. They are products of a blood line polluted by the bloodthirsty Aztecs.
Criollos, Si!, Castizos, Si!. Mestizos, probably a big fat No! And I hope the Castro brothers are ruined!
Seems like it should be illegal, but I am not sure what laws already exist on the subject.
On the one hand campaign donations should be transparent so that one can see who is behind any given candidate, but it seems like that should be high profile high value donor limited (corporations, etc). As a citizen just giving small donations on par with charitable givings, those should have ‘some’ expectation of privacy and similar protection to that of the private ballot.
I admit I do not know the law in this matter.
