WASHINGTON — Under intense pressure to take action on gun safety in the wake of two weekend massacres, Senator Mitch McConnell, the majority leader, expressed a new willingness Thursday to consider a measure expanding background checks for all gun purchasers, saying it will be “front and center” in a coming Senate debate on how to respond to gun violence.
“There is a lot of support for that,” he said.

Mentally ill WITH NO CRIME is not a reason to restrict one’s rights in America. How about that?
We all have violent tendencies as humans which are innate in the human condition.
If you want to restrict someone’s rights - be they gun or first amendment or property rights you go through due process where the accused has a right to defend themselves in court.
Not have them taken away like being silenced on twitter because somebody just reported you like a good little apparatchik.
hell, I demand complete background check on all candidates for public office, it’s a lead pipe cinch that your average politician can do more harm than any nut with a gun.

This is going to not work very well. This system is going to get extremely overloaded if every Tom, Dick, and Jane can request a BG check for a ‘gun sale’.
EVERY SINGLE DAD is going to get a check on his daughter’s new boyfriend.
