They always say that only the military and the police should have “weapons of war.” To that I always ask: Against whom are the police planning to wage war? That usually results in a deer-in-the-headlight look from them.

The 2nd Amendment doesn’t exist so that citizens can hunt or go to shooting ranges. It exists so that we can oppose and defeat tyranny, its imposition attempted from the outside or from the inside. Citizens deserve to keep and bear the most powerful weapons available.

Weapons of war are exactly what our founders wanted us to have to protect ourselves from a potentially tyrannical government. Weapons of war were the actual point of the Second Amendment. Our Revolution would have gone nowhere if the regular citizens/Minutemen/militia men were not already armed, and our Founders of course knew that. An unarmed populace is a controlled populace.
So how many “so-called” assault weapons are already purchased, owned, reside in the hands of the American people?
The ban in the 1990s just banned new purchases and imports.
Since that was lifted, millions have been sold.
Sounds like the New Yorkers at the Post just don’t want a sales ban, but a confiscation.

Understand that when the MSM / liberals ref to weapons of war, they mean:
AK’s and AR’s
internal magazine rifles
Bolt action rifles
lever action rifles
pump action
breach / break action
as well as .... revolvers, pistols, and anything that goes bang.
Because every single one of those actions rifles and pistols have been used in war.
Never forget that the Left LOVES guns. They just dont want YOU to have one.

Sure NY Post, when Hollywood actors and their award shows are no longer protected by the above, banning guns that you don't like citizens having may be worth considering.As long as the Left wields propaganda in ways that would make Gobbels and Madame Mao proud we need weapons if war.

“Assault weapons” is a bull$hit term created in 1989 by the left-wing media to described semi-automatic rifles....rifles which are intended for the civilian market.
“Scary” black rifles....oh my!
Actual assault weapons, as defined by the military, are full-automatic rifles.
The FBI’s own statistics show that more people are murdered by hammers every year than are murdered by semi-automatic rifles.
More people are murdered by people using their hands than are murdered by semi-automatic rifles.
More people are murdered by people using their feet than are murdered by semi-automatic rifles.

They first did this in 1968 with a ban on the evil 5-shot bolt action army surplus rifles (actually to protect America’s hunting rifle makers from cheap competition). A police rifle off the same assembly line with the same markings was considered A-OK!
This ban was finally dropped about 15-20 years later.
It is the “MILITARY” designation they hate.
