Robert Mueller Just Killed Impeachment
spectator ^ | July 25, 2019 | DAVID CATRON

Posted on 07/29/2019 5:31:20 AM PDT by MarvinStinson

Robert Mueller’s congressional testimony was lethal to the legal pretext for keeping the Russian collusion story alive.

Indeed, the maundering and semi-coherent manner with which he answered the questions posed to him during Wednesday’s hearings suggests that he was probably never up to the job of running the special counsel investigation into Russian interference with our 2016 election.

Mueller’s excruciating testimony made it obvious that he was unfamiliar with crucial passages of the report that bears his name. He had obvious difficulty grasping the point of many questions he was asked.

The report is so tainted by Mueller’s obvious incapacity — combined with the notorious partisanship of the people who actually investigated the president and wrote the so-called Mueller report — that it will now be suicidal for the Democrats to pursue impeachment.

Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) lecturing Mueller for flouting special counsel rules:

You told us this morning and in your report that you made no determination so respectfully director, you didn’t follow the special counsel regulations. It clearly says, “Write a confidential report about decisions reached.” Nowhere in here does it say write a report about decisions that weren’t reached. You wrote 180 pages about decisions that weren’t reached about potential crimes that weren’t charged.… And respectfully, by doing that you managed to violate every principle in the most sacred of traditions about prosecutors not offering extra prosecutorial analysis about potential crimes that aren’t charged.

The aging G-Man delivered the coup de grâce. Resuscitation was “outside his purview,” as he would phrase it. It’s time for the Democrats to call the undertaker and give impeachment a decent burial.

Mueller’s reputation and impeachment weren’t Wednesday’s only casualties. Democratic credibility is also bleeding out.

Looks like the narrative others here were talking about last week. Show our prime domestic enemy to be “incompetent” and play for another do-over attack on Trump and America.

I don’t buy Mueller’s “dementia” act. It is the male version of Ballsy Ford’s little girl voice.

It worked pretty well for both of them. It worked so well for Mueller the GOP “backed off” on him in the afternoon session.

Good. Now it’s time for Republicans to start telling people about Hitlery’s and Soetoro’s collusion with Russia. Forget about calling for a new investigation or special needs counsel, just have some backbone and speak up.

Dementia, maybe not, but ignorance and lack of details, maybe yes.

It's clear Weissman was in charge, way too much work (I use that term loosely) got done.

All I have to say is DJT must be super mega squeaky clean to have been cleared. They couldn't even charge him with skipping a house on his paper route when he was 10 years old.

When did facts ever matter to democrats? Talk about impeachment has not subsided. The democrats can say and do anything they want - and the news and social media will support them.

Thank God that the President has brilliantly used Twitter to counter rabid liberal news and social media outlets. I believe it was Rush who said our biggest enemy is not Congress but our anti-Conservative & anti-Christian liberal news outlets that have been brainwashing American for years. The reason for Rush's perspective is because the liberal news outlets give democrats constant cover and as a result - power they would not otherwise have. I would agree with Rush's assessment.

Until/unless the major news and social media outlets - and our anti-Christian anti-Conservative education system are replaced with Christian and Conservative leadership and mouthpieces - democrats will continue to lie, cheat and steal with impunity.

We should be reminded that impeachment is a 'political' process that occurs in the House. It is not a criminal prosecution. Frankly, I'm surprised that the democrat House has not long ago impeached President Trump since a simple majority vote is needed. They would receive all the support one could have from their fake-news allies.

"Robert Mueller Just Killed Impeachment"

Nadler didn't get the memo. As I'm typing this he is on Fox talking about impeachment.

Impeachment will never die, it will simply play to smaller houses.

It is the only agenda of Dems.

I label this as conservative wishful thinking, and total nonsense.

The Mueller hearings have actually solidified the resolve of Democrats in Congress to impeach. More than a dozen have signed up since last week. The total number is about half of the Dem party strength in Congress.

I predict that after they return from the summer recess, and have heard how passionate their base is for impeachment, they will convince Pelosi to start the impeachment proceedings this fall.

Not doing so would be an abdication of their responsibility to their constituents, plain and simple.

I didn’t see Mueller’s testimony but following along with the much of live thread here. My take was that he answered questions from Democrats clearly but stammered, delayed and appeared confused in response to all Republicans question. In my mind, his dementia act backfired and karma’s gonna get that boy.

I fear this is not going to happen.

I fear that Republicans are committed to a Karl Rove strategy of maximum weakness in all political action.

I fear we will see lots of booms posted on the internet, but that Trump will barely squeak by in the general, if he wins at all.

I fear that we won’t win back the house.

I fear that we won’t hold the Senate.

Trump is very nearly alone. He and a few other repubs have balls.

The rest of the party is a bunch of chamber of commerce little girls cowering in the corner not wanting to offend anyone.

I hope I am wrong.

I pray that I am wrong.

Impeachment was dead in the water, a nothing burger, wasn’t going to happen long before last Wednesday but that’s not going to stop them from whining nonstop about it.

No, it was an act. If he were truly that bad off, CNN would have been wringing their hands and crying on air months ago. If it were true, it would have given the left an excuse to bring in a new guy who obviously would have to be brought up to speed so they could drag this thing out even longer.
