Nadler: Mueller Doesn't Need to Comply With That DOJ Letter

"I hope and expect this will be the only time I will speak to you in this manner," former special counsel Robert Mueller said in May as he gave what he thought would be his last public statement on his Russian collusion investigation. Yet, here he is, a day before his congressional testimony.

Mueller will comply with subpoenas to appear before the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees on Wednesday. But, he's getting mixed messages from the White House and Congress. On Monday night, the Department of Justice sent the witness a letter instructing him to limit his testimony to matters that have already been made public.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler told Mueller he can forget that note because nothing is off limits.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler says Robert Mueller does not have to comply with the DOJ letter that tells the special counsel to “remain within the boundaries of your public report” https://cnn.it/2M7EZmE

"He doesn't work for them," Nadler said, adding that the DOJ has a lot of audacity to send those instructions because it's "beyond the power" of the agency.

How "arrogant," he added.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler says it’s “incredibly arrogant” for the Justice Department to try and “instruct” Robert Mueller in his upcoming testimony http://cnn.it/32KqJpR

The chairman regretted how long it took to get Mueller before the committee because of the "unprecedented" level of obstruction from the White House. Asked what he wants out of the witness, Nadler told CNN that he plans to ask Mueller some pointed questions about possible impeachment. He'll inquire about the seriousness of President Trump's "impeachable offenses" related to the Russia investigation and, looking ahead, whether Congress could impeach the president and "not tear the country apart."

Mueller will sit before the House Judiciary Committee beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the House Intelligence Committee at noon on Wednesday. We'll be live blogging every minute here at Townhall.

Of course the whole thing is a gigantic farce, and not even an entertaining one.

I hope Mueller does something like this: “Yes, Congressman, in answer to your question let me direct you to page 145 of the report, second paragraph down. Do you have it there? Do the members have their copies? Okay, I’ll read it nice and slow so the committee can follow along...”

Now, the really entertaining thing would be if Nadler tries to hold Mueller in contempt.

Congressman Nadler, along with all his other virtues, makes a great jailhouse lawyer.

I do not know if Jerry Nadler has a law degree or not, but if he does, it was space and tuition in a law school somewhere that was entirely wasted.

He seems not to have absorbed what would have been taught in a high school civics class.

Barr has said he has no objection since day 1. The rats set the date, not the White House. Again nadler lies.

I imagine a large part of the delay was so dirty cop mueller could read his own report.

“Bill Barr better be ready to launch on No Honor EX-Marine if he deviates at all from the report.”

Barr probably has spoken to Mueller, since they are longtime friends. If Mueller’s first answer is “there is nothing here that can be deemed an impeachable offense”, you can stick a fork in the rats. Also, I am inclined to say, if that is Mueller’s first answer, watch how fast the IG report comes out.

Nadler is walking a fine line or just stomped over the line. He wanted AG Barr to break the law and disclose Grand Jury materials and other national security materials. Now he wants Mueller to do the same. At what point is Nadler guilty of obstruction of justice?

Nadler is likely to qualify as a new member of the Socialist Spice Girls (aka The Squad). Nadler is now "OompaLoompa Spice".

Look the Democrats have already tried officially running votes on impeachment what three times now and they’ve got about 90 votes so this whole thing is going to absolutely nowhere

We have to help enough of the American public will see this for what it is and we can get enough people that would normally vote Democrat to either stay home or even switch sides m

but I think the best hope is just to get them to be dispirited and just not vote at all because Democrats are really stupid

“House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler says it’s “incredibly arrogant” for the Justice Department to try and “instruct” Robert Mueller in his upcoming testimony”

Man I hate this slimy moron... there isn’t an ounce of integrity in him.

Mueller wrote the DOJ last week for advice on how to respond to certain question. They were just responding to his request.

This is common knowledge and Jerry the Hutt is trying to spin it.

Mueller will comply with the letter to a Tee.

This concerns me, as most of what the Republicans want to dig into isn’t explicitly written out in the report, whereas most of what the Democrats want to ask is.

Yes, this is the answer. Because if you come up with a thought that was left out of the report, the first question would be, Why?

I should think Mueller will be very careful in this regard, and the DOJ simply and politely reminded him that what he says can and will be used against him.
