Between 1996 and 2015, more than 28 million acres of Canada’s boreal forest were logged.

Clear-cut logged? I doubt it. Forest management practices have improved substantially since the 1870's.

Lying MSM and the liars who lie for them.

As a farmer of pine trees I will say this article is a bald faced lie.

“This logging threatens the ways of life of hundreds of Indigenous communities”

Lack of toilet paper would threaten the “way of life” of a considerably larger number.

And trees never, ever grow back after an area is logged. Once they’re gone, they’re gone forever.

(/s, for those who need it)

Hi.

Where is the part about the company planting trees on the acres cut in the article?

5.56mm

Today’s classic example of liberal I N S A N I T Y.
Everyday they try to outdo themselves.
They belong in an asylum, not government.

"...forests..."

What a silly article. Paper companies and paper mills probably plant millions of new trees annually.
My bet is they are likely researching ways to utilize fast-growing bamboo for typical household use, too.

Now we’re running out of time:

Always start with the fear-mongering, and the urgency...

Between 1996 and 2015, more than 28 million acres of Canada’s boreal forest were logged.

Well, since Canada has 857 million acres of forest land (9% of the global forest land), that is only 3%... in 20 years... so 0.15% annually... and the "author" says nothing about how many acres were replanted. (It is documented that there are more trees in the US today than when Lewis and Clark explored the Louisiana Purchase. Trees are a renewable resource, kids!)

This logging threatens the ways of life of hundreds of Indigenous communities,

Pray tell, EXACTLY how does this "threaten" someone's "way of life"? No logging company is operating on land where they do not have permission from the owner and the government.

releases hundreds of millions of tons of climate-altering carbon stored in the forest into the atmosphere every year,

Simply saying phrases like "releases carbon" and "carbon alters the climate" does not make them true. CO2 levels were over 7000ppm in Earth's history, and Life thrived. Every plant and tree species alive today maximizes growth and photosynthesis between 800-1450ppm. We are at 400ppm, and slowing inching towards optimal growth conditions for plants. The Left has yet to explain how this is bad for the Earth.

and devastates iconic wildlife.

Fascinating how they need to only fret over "iconic" wildlife... I guess the lesser species can go hang. Typical Leftists, always separating lives into worthy and unworthy", including groups of humans. And, last I looked, species that depend on trees are always able to switch trees for food, reproduction, shelter, etc. So EXACTLY how has an "icon" been "devastated"?

This article is much baloney. They grow tracts of trees specifically for paper. I live in a working forest.

The intensification of logging in Canada is a deliberate policy choice. The left has withdrawn so much forest acreage in the U.S. from production that the wood and paper products companies are forced to go abroad for timber. For most of its history, the U.S. Forest Service managed national forests for balanced use and sustainable production (with appropriate park, wilderness and national monument set asides for particularly scenic spots). Trees are a renewable resource. But the left wants to treat all national forests as wilderness, and bit by bit, the left has drastically reduced access. So: we cut more in Canada, Brazil and Southeast Asia. Not because we have to, but because the left is stupid and destructive.

Can’t say for sure, as I don’t have direct experience in the paper industry, but I seem to recall that paper producers don’t log pristine forests, rather they farm trees for the desired characteristics. Therefore if there were no toilet paper, there would be no need for the trees used to produce it, and the (private) land would be put to other uses not likely involving trees.

In the military, there were so many books of regulations on what you could do and not do.

It was joked about that there was a regulation on how many sheets of toilet paper you could use at one sitting. The number was two.

And if you remember that old military slick toilet paper, it is no wonder why so many men bought their own at the PX.
