Making America Venezuela: The left is coming for your toilet paper

In its quest to make America Venezuela, the left is coming for your toilet paper.

Kimberley Strassel spotted this beaut on Twitter:

And now they are coming for your toilet paper..... To be clear, folks, there is NOTHING the left would not seek to control in people's daily lives under the guise of fixing "climate change." They will even tell you with what to wipe. https://t.co/GGcXoMa0PM — Kimberley Strassel (@KimStrassel) July 18, 2019

Apparently toilet paper is the new plastic straw of the green lobby, and they're out to put a stop to it. Kid you not, here is what the National Resources Defense Council is shilling as its new narrative:

You may not realize it, but the toilet paper in your bathroom likely comes from some of the most important—and threatened—forests in the world. In fact, Procter & Gamble is driving the devastation of one of the last great forests on earth to produce Charmin, the world’s biggest toilet paper brand—made out of 100 percent virgin forest fiber.

Now we’re running out of time: Between 1996 and 2015, more than 28 million acres of Canada’s boreal forest were logged. This logging threatens the ways of life of hundreds of Indigenous communities, releases hundreds of millions of tons of climate-altering carbon stored in the forest into the atmosphere every year, and devastates iconic wildlife.

Clear-cut is still standard practice, except it’s done in checkerboard pattern so the cut sections are at different levels of maturity. It isn’t like the old days when’s hundreds of square miles were cut.

For a preview of life without toilet paper, simply visit the streets of SF or LA.

You can take my toilet paper when you pry it from my dead clean hands.

This article is much baloney. They grow tracts of trees specifically for paper. I live in a working forest.

Equally balanced by the gazillions of pages of rules and regulations that President Donald J. Trump has caused to be deleted.

The intensification of logging in Canada is a deliberate policy choice. The left has withdrawn so much forest acreage in the U.S. from production that the wood and paper products companies are forced to go abroad for timber. For most of its history, the U.S. Forest Service managed national forests for balanced use and sustainable production (with appropriate park, wilderness and national monument set asides for particularly scenic spots). Trees are a renewable resource. But the left wants to treat all national forests as wilderness, and bit by bit, the left has drastically reduced access. So: we cut more in Canada, Brazil and Southeast Asia. Not because we have to, but because the left is stupid and destructive.

“The left is coming for your toilet paper” * Nothing new about that. I recall that several years ago Bab’s Streisand was advocating that everyone limit their after poop wipes to one square. Guess she was just ahead of her time 😝....

Can’t say for sure, as I don’t have direct experience in the paper industry, but I seem to recall that paper producers don’t log pristine forests, rather they farm trees for the desired characteristics. Therefore if there were no toilet paper, there would be no need for the trees used to produce it, and the (private) land would be put to other uses not likely involving trees.

In the military, there were so many books of regulations on what you could do and not do.

It was joked about that there was a regulation on how many sheets of toilet paper you could use at one sitting. The number was two.

And if you remember that old military slick toilet paper, it is no wonder why so many men bought their own at the PX.

Where I live they mow down forests and build big mansions. Liberalism is always about mandating how others live, not themselves.

Too rough for military use. Wax paper would work as well as military toilet paper.

Every time I used sheets of the slick military paper, I was reminded it was supplied by the “Lowest bidder”.

Muslims squat over a hole in the floor and use their left hand to wipe,no paper involved. The penalty for some crimes is amputation of the left hand. My time in the middle east is over 50 years ago so but I doubt there has been a change.
