"Everybody is talking about that he is threatened because we criticize him," she said. "But the reality is that he is threatened because we are inspiring people to dream about a country that recognizes their dignity and humanity."
"His nightmare is seeing a Somali immigrant refugee rise to Congress," she continued. "His nightmare is seeing the beautiful mosaic fabric of our country welcome someone like me as their member of Congress home to Minnesota." "We are going to continue to be a nightmare to this president, because his policies are a nightmare to us," she said.
"We are not deterred, we are not frightened, we are ready," she said. "We are in the ring, we are in the people’s house ... we are going to continue fighting until we have the America we all deserve."

NO, women do not need to withdraw from politics. Even if you returned us to the legal status of chattel (livestock), you would still have some pretty awful politicians, and awful wars. You focus on the evil some women do, entirely forgetting the evil that some men do. Why do you think that if you hurt, brutalize, humiliate, and enslave half of the human race that the world would be a better place? Newsflash, the world could be quite a rotten place for men back in the day it was perfectly legal to beat the women that you legally owned to the point of death, as often as you wished. If you think a country would be better if women were voiceless, powerless, and it is even okay to kill women, then why don’t you move to the paradise of your choice in the middle east?

Somalia is overwhelmingly muslim, but was ruled by a pro-soviet. Communist military dictatorship - and it appears that Ilhan’s family were supporters. I wonder what role her father and her wider family had in supporting the dictatorship of Siad Barre, and if they had blood on their hands from the genocide his regime perpetrated?
Reportedly, Ilhan Omar’s father was a loyalist of Siad Barre in Somali, and their extended family held positions within the Barre Government. Ilhan is reportedly a member of the Majeerteen Clan, one of the Darod Family of Clans (to which Said Barre belonged). Ilhan’s family left Somali in 1991, the year that Siad Barre’s Government was thrown out of power.
Siad Barre took power through a coup in 1969, and made Somalia into a Marxist-Leninist dictatorship, and a client of the Soviet Union. From Wikipedia’s Siad Barre article: “The United Nations Development Programme stated that “the 21-year regime of Siyad Barre had one of the worst human rights records in Africa.””
Just a few years before the fall of Siad Barre’s dictatorship (1987-89), his Government conducted a Genocide of the Isaaq Clan. From Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaaq_genocide):

I find the media fascination with her more than strange.. all about her is weird, and she must have more backing her and protecting her than we’ve seen yet.
