Serves them right. They failed to make their protection racket payment to the Feds last month.

These drug dealers apparently failed to appreciate that the US military is guarding the poppy fields in Afghanistan and Federal agencies are guiding the coke through the ports and the borders. That’s expensive labor intensive work that needs to be compensated.

I have a theory....
Lets create a camp in each state.
Place all the confiscated drugs there.
When someone gets arrested they have a choice.
Go to rehab or go to the camp.
Second arrest they go to the camp.
Drug dealers get 20 years hard time.
If all drug users are in the camp you can’t sell any drugs cause your customers are in camp.
Drug dealers are losing money cause all their drugs are being giving away for free.
Either that or just buy it all in Columbia , take it out to sea, dump it, and go back for more. It would be cheaper than what we’re doing now.
Think of all the savings! No more DEA, police, lawyers, courts, etc.

Another way to look at it is incentive. If the guberment was successful at eliminating drugs we could drop a couple of agencies that fight drugs. To maintain jobs for the guberment they do a lousy job to insure their jobs are secure.

More drugs equals more guberment employees.

if the penalty for speeding was death, how many speeding tickets would be issued?

Only one.

“If the penalty for drug use and sales was death, what would happen?”

Every drug user and dealer would fight to the death. And we know that a cornered enemy fights the hardest.

Then we would have a real war. The Feds wouldn’t like that and the protection racket money, money laundering business, political payoffs would drop off fast. You also wouldn’t be able to fed the prison slave labor system.

Why not death camps and gas chambers? A lot more efficient.

One of the problems that is being instituted by our times spent in Afghanistan protecting the poppy fields.

DO not come back saying I do not know what I am talking about because our Marines and bombing missions were held back because of these fields.

Our FERAL Government is aiding and abetting this drug flow.

We went over this story last week. I can’t believe people here at FR fall for this. Yes, the ship was owned by JP Morgan - and then leased out to a shipping company. If I run over granny with my leased BMW, should the headline be car owned by BMW kills granny? Most large corporations no longer buy and then depreciate large assets. They lease assets - planes, buildings, trucks, etc. through leasing companies who are shown as the owners of the asset.

Be smart and don’t fall into the media’s trap.

Read down maybe 4 graphs of the dang excerpt for the answer to your question. Then go back to ‘graph 3 to see who said it.

Come on man!

> U.S. Lawyer William McSwain mentioned in a tweet that the sheer quantity of cocaine may have killed “hundreds of thousands” of individuals.

Red flag for dishonesty. The odds that hundreds of thousands would die if that shipment went through are zero.

I guess that would be a trigger for a civil war. Faced with certain death from the government, drug dealers would stop fighting amongst each other and create enclaves much as they do in Mexico where the cartels run cities and regions.

Sure, you could send in the military to crush them. But I doubt that would happen. Maybe something token for public consumption.

so why do you think that the war on drugs will never end. The most compelling reason is that it is a muti trillion dollar business. Banks are heavily involved. Some banks would fail no doubt if the business was seriously damaged. That could trigger a global financial collapse.

While its a long-standing tradition at FR to skip reading the entire linked article and pontificating at length with a dearth of information, if you skip even reading the excerpt and request/demand “proof” of something and its provided in short order referencing the excerpt you ignored, its considered polite to say “Oops - thanks” and then go on with your life.

You’ll feel better, the poster will feel better and I’ll feel better knowing a FReeper may, in the future, get past the headline before forcing someone to point out the obvious.

Have a nice day. Sorry. I hate Mondays. ;-)

“”pontificating at length with a dearth of information””

Why would you call two questions “pontificating at length?” Maybe you better skip Mondays from now on. I read what was at the link and I’m sorry but I didn’t see any twitter by anyone. Don’t suppose you could cut and paste it from the article to back up your reprimand?
