Jeffrey Epstein’s A-list pals rush to distance themselves
nyPOST ^ | 7/10/2019 | Bruce Golding

Jeffrey Epstein carefully cultivated a circle of prestigious and powerful friends by exploiting the aura of money and mystery that surrounded him — but the hint of a dark side was always there.

Now, in the wake of his blockbuster arrest on child sex trafficking charges, some of those high-flying former pals may be quaking in their boots.

During a news conference Monday announcing Epstein’s indictment, Manhattan US Attorney Geoffrey Berman dramatically pointed to the suspect’s mug shot on a poster, and the FBI’s New York chief, William Sweeney Jr., urged anyone who has been “victimized” or “has additional information” on the multimillionaire financier to immediately call the feds.

But the appeal was not just meant for victims of the convicted pedophile, former Justice Department prosecutor Bradley Simon said Tuesday. The underlying message, he said, is: Call us before we come a-calling on you.

“If there are people out there who facilitated or participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes, they would probably be well-advised to seek counsel, and for their counsel to make overtures to the US attorney,” said Simon, now co-chair of the white-collar criminal defense practice at Phillips Nizer.

“Earlier is better than later in these types of cases.”

Epstein, 66, rose from middle-class origins in Coney Island to amass a fortune that includes a $77 million Upper East Side townhouse, a $12 million estate in Palm Beach, Fla., a 7,500-acre ranch in New Mexico and a private island — called “Little St. James” — in the US Virgin Islands, which he claims as his primary residence.

The Today Show interviewed James Patterson, author of "Filthy Rich" --the current go-to book on Epstein, published about 5 years ago.

Today host question to Patterson:

"Did the others in Epstein's mileu KNOW what he was doing..?"

Patterson answer:

"How were they SUPPOSED to know..?"

What a stupid answer, and it went unchallenged by the host.

Miami PD identified THREE HUNDRED local victims --think word about something on that scale isn't SORT OF going to get out, around town..?

Ridiculous --OF COURSE it would..! At the barber shop, and the yoga studio, and the little-league games, at the grocery store, at the golf clubs --EVERYWHERE.

It's reasonable Epstein would get Local Scum-Bag status after just 5 or 10 victims, but THREE HUNDRED..?

Sorry, I ain't buyin' that sh*t in a MILLION YEARS..!

Patterson lives locally and is trying to keep from getting his own pals and neighbors nailed, so he's trundling out the ole GOOD GERMAN excuse.

It's totally unbelievable.

I think what they’re doing is trolling for more victims outside New York. Then they can add new charges and go after more of his assets. The previous FL case is closed because of the NPA but they could open a new one if a new victim comes forth. Women have been so intimidated in the past maybe now some will be willing to come forward after seeing this investigation is for real.

Interesting the big Trump critics who are in Epstein’s “little black book” or have been brought up traveling in these circles.

Alec Baldwin... De Niro.

Will be interesting to see who else gets indicted. Bill Clinton would be a scalp that’d launch a prosecutor to national stature - if they don’t get Arkancided.

The best deals go to those who come in early... if you've got the goods on Clinton now's your time...

.... Question: .... With so many High Profile and powerful folks being connected to this sex trafficking scandal and having them being shoved into the unwanted limelite ...... Could a coincidental Mass Casualty event be close behind to divert attention away?

...... Just wondering ..... It seems to be a reoccurring trend with past high profile scandals ...... And the Powerful move in very Mysterious Ways .....

Aldrin and DeNiro getting indicted would be delicious. Unlike Billy Blythe, they don’t have shadowy folks who are enforcers to create an Armancide

Yes, even his household staff should seek counsel for their part in JEFFREY’S CRIMES, but anyone screwing with the girls were participating in THEIR OWN CRIMES.

Patterson is acting so schmucky on this whole topic, and the book doesn’t mention any of his buddies, so I am wondering if he has more to hide personally than he let’s on...

It was a honeypot operation.

Yes. That was how he made his money. He delivered the goods. And why was Epstein the perfect honeypot Director? Because he was powerful and rich (or made to look that way), and openly screwing underaged girls in front of everyone, on his island, planes, homes. So the wealthy, powerful pedos could freely engage in their lusts safely, because he was “one of them.” He clearly wasn’t trying to entrap them with young girls, since he was openly screwing them himself.

The vice cop can’t have intercourse with the hooker he’s trying to bust. Or with the John she’s trying to bust. But Epstein did it all. So clearly they were safe, on his special island or plane. Right?

[[ Today host question to Patterson:

A Reputable interviewer would have replied by looking him in the eye and saying “Do you honestly think we’re that stupid? Of course everyone knew- you knew, we all knew- stop the BS”

Oh, HELL, yeah..! He has been local --I think Palm Beach-- since forever, at least that's what he claimed in the TV interview, and just how antisocial can be be..?

He sure didn't seem it.

Epstein only sometimes dropped in at Mar-a-Lago, yet it seems enough people there knew from just those times that he got banned.

We're supposed to maybe believe he saved all his bad behavior just for his house and Mar-a-Lago..?

Wow, that's a real long-shot.

Patterson KNEW and all his local buddies knew, that's my gut feeling. The place is highly aware of liability and laws governning slander, though, so I'm sure that many of The Knowers just pailed, kept mum and rocked back and forth in the corner, from time to time, wanting for the whole dirty, utly thing to blow over and go away.

Patterson wanted to put his writing/researching talent to work in a worthy topic, but still somehow come out able to show his face around town --a razor's edge.

So as far as his book is concerned Patterson vindicated The Knowers.

Conceptually I understand his position, but puh-LEEZE don't insult my intelligence, Mr. Patterson, jeez...

Great point, agree 101%.

With his endless flood of wealth and President-level bevvy of social contacts (grace a Ghistlane and Wexner) Epstein seemed the living embodiment of power and legitimacy.

Also, the fact of being in a private jet and being offshore and on island in the minds of many people "makes it okay".

A lot of non-lawyers might think there'd be no legal implications as "we're not in the USA under American law".

Lessay you're at a hump-fest and there you see freaking DERSHOWITZ; it's hard for me to imagine a more convincing example of jurisprudence:

I can imagine seeing him and maybe thinking, "Well, this unusual but amazing stuff MUST be okay, then..! Dig in..!"

There were no weapons or face-tat scum-bags, ergo OKAY.

At least many would THINK that.

The President Is Missing is a political thriller novel by former US President Bill Clinton and novelist James Patterson published in June 2018. It is Clinton’s first novel.
