One possibility is that this is all staged. Kabuki Theater. A pre-arranged gimmick designed to desperately smear President Trump. A five year plea bargain is already in the works which invloves Epstein naming names.
Not Clinton of course, but republican names. Like Trump, for instance. Who cares if it's a lie? Democrats ran with a Collusion lie for two years. Maybe they can see what damage this Epstein crap might cause Republicans.
