I know a couple people and businesses who put the solar panels on their property.

Buyers remorse is an understatement.

“Poor quality installations if not brought under control will affect all installers in the country as word spreads among consumers about unviable projects and poor-quality installs that may not last long.

LOL! Poor quality Indian workmanship? Thankfully this doesn't spill over into their programming skills. We'd all be in trouble!

Solar energy is a joke. Even these little flashlights and radios that are suppose to recharge their battery with solar...... junk.

I remember reading that birds get fried on solar panels, since they nistake them for water and try to land on them.

Between solar and wind power, we might be able to seriously deplete the population of noisy little feather balls.

Here in MA, forests are being clear-cut for solar panel farms on the ground. Drive anywhere in MA and you’ll see them.

Nothing wrong with that, I guess. But with all this additional solar power supply online, one would think one’s electrical bill would go down...

...now I’m getting a “solar power surcharge” on my bill.

What a SCAM.

I watched a tv show where they were analyzing unusual video clips.

There was one clip where a camera caught puffs of smoke appearing magically in the air.

Their analysis showed that the puffs of smoke were actually birds flying into the path of a solar collector.

Poof!

It should be a requirement that any company purporting to produce “green” technology do so using only green inputs. No diesel mined iron, no diesel electric transport, no coke fired blast furnaces, no fossil powered electricity- NONE! If you call it “green” it can’t be the last inch green, it must be the whole mile green.

And solar cells actually contribute to global warming. They do this because they absorb light that otherwise might have been reflected off the planets surface. IE - they decrease the planets albedo.

Putting solar panels up, at least in most of the country, is like buying a Tesla. You don’t buy them to ‘save the planet’, you buy them to HOLD YOUR NOSE UP at the others, at your socials.

I just bought a set of lunar panels from a nice Nigerian company. Should be arriving any day now.

The Sun destroys the plastic bits and makes the panels fail

One thing we never hear about WRT solar is the constant tending the solar panels require.

The roof panels must be kept clear of dirt & debris.
Hail storms are lethal.

So, a salesman convinces you solar will save you money.
Now you’re 80 years old, climbing a ladder every week
to clean your solar panels.
Or paying someone to do it.

A guy once tried to sell me a composting toilet. Supposedly saves water. Needs a tractor to clean it & a pit FAR from your house & water well to dump the stuff.

“The sun sends out abundant energy, yet solar energy can be generated only during the daytime, and any high-power consuming system must rely on other sources for energy during the night. The current industry-standard storage technologies are not sufficient to provide backup during the non-generational hours.”

Now, this makes no sense. Surely a standard installation provides sufficient storage - assuming plenty of sun during the day - to generate power during the night. This fact should be acknowledged - solar does work but there are exceptions and limitations.

This article seems to border on fake news.

Solar panels make sense if you lack access to the grid. With lower energy consumption in home appliances and more efficient panels available it is now a somehow practical solution. Vaccum solar water heaters are practical too nowadays.
The problem is a cost though. This stuff cost much and has relatively short life cycle to be somehow economically reasonable for people who indeed has access to grid.

Seniors with little or no taxable income getting duped that there’s a tax credit available to them to offset the cost. Nope, it’s a nonrefundable credit. No tax, no credit.
