We should focus most on those who have less of a personal commitment to the abusive policies that are being carried out.
Testimony from trials and truth commissions has revealed that many atrocity perpetrators think of what theyre doing as they would think of any other day job. While the leaders who order atrocities may be acting out of strongly held ideological beliefs or political survival concerns, the so-called foot soldiers and the middle men and women are often just there for the paycheck.
This lack of personal investment means that these participants in atrocities can be much more susceptible to pressure than national leaders. Specifically, they are sensitive to social pressure, which has been shown to have played a huge role in atrocity commission and desistance in the Holocaust, Rwanda and elsewhere. The campaign to stop the abuses at the border should exploit this sensitivity and put social pressure on those involved in enforcing the Trump administrations immigration policies.
Here is what that might look like:
The identities of the individual Customs and Border Protection agents who are physically separating children from their families and staffing the detention centers are not undiscoverable. Immigration lawyers have agent names; journalists reporting at the border have names, photos and even videos. These agents actions should be publicized, particularly in their home communities.
This is not an argument for doxxing its about exposure of their participation in atrocities to audiences whose opinion they care about. The knowledge, for instance, that when you go to church on Sunday, your entire congregation will have seen you on TV ripping a child out of her fathers arms is a serious social cost to bear.

The column is dishonest as well as evil. It sure as heck is an argument for doxxing.
The GOP could make some powerful commercials with Border Patrol agents as narrators.
Being an American Citizen increasingly means nothing, except being a tax-slave for government, an interest-group for leftist politicians, and debt-slave for banks.
anyone have a phone number or address for Kate Cronin-Furman? Time to dox her...
Googling her name, she has a web site where she can be emailed. She is "a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in human rights at the Department of Political Science at University College London." I don't advocate doxxing her.
When will these sap-happy liberals take responsibilty for creating the border crisis?
But chopping up a million unborn babies alive per year in the womb is not an atrocity.
These people are insane.
They should see how these kids lived in their home countries, probably much worse.
The unborn are “migrants” but the Left celebrates murdering them en mass before they reach the border.
Never.......
they’re trying to pull a Katrina.
Isn’t going to work this time.
It is horrible that they are trying to attack the agents, who are having a hard enough time taking care of all these aliens.
The NYT’s has never done one good thing for America in my entire lifetime. Now they’re openly fomenting war against the good people of America in favor of foreign invaders. We should stomp them out of existence.
Hi oh so noble and altruistic do gooder Kate Cronin-Furman for Columbia or Yale, it’s sad you exist and have acquired so much student debt...you have proven to have no brain cells ...you are a book smart idiot and Don’t have a. This is sick.
Yet in 2014 you had Migrants dying in the same Rio Grande and I didnt hear the leftists bitching about it..so it all depends on whose in power, when Obama is in power, cant say a peep about him cause when he does it its cool
“Dishonest” and “Evil”... The NY Times summed up in 2 words.
There should be NO detention centers because these people dont belong in our country PERIOD..close the centers down and throw them back across the border
